It seems that times are changing in favour of crooked music companies that operate a Cartel against other smaller companies, legal in the US it seems.
http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/67512/streamcast_grokster_and_edonkey_closed.htmlA summary judgement ruling that StreamCast was liable for encouraging Morpheus users to infringe on copyright is the second case now using the INCITE Act, and it spells the end of p2p networks as we know it.
Using the INCITE Act, or the Inducement Doctrine, the RIAA and MPAA have an end-run around earlier rulings that stated the P2P networks couldn't be held liable for what their users did.
Theres 2 1/4 pages of this article (probably half a page without the ad's
) , and in summary it declares that P2P is dead , the thing is we have heard all this before and its rather lame to declare that just because the US has anti competitive laws that aid the Cartels and passes anti-consumer legislation, that it affects all folks worldwide, this is obviously a flawed arguement.
The battle will go on, no Cartel will monopolise users rights to share their own material, to try to do so is stupid.
