Help please...
« on: October 13, 2006, 11:17:33 am »
I used to use Winmx all the time and then moved house and had to wait to get reconnected. nothing seems to work anymore.
I have reinstalled Winmx but i get nothing through secondary connection and very very little on primary connection.  When i choose primary this is the information at the top of the screen.

P=4 S=0 SPM=17087

I am using Windows XP SP2 with DSL Broadband Connection through a BT Home Hub.
I have configured my Windows XP Firewall to allow Winmx through ports 6699 for TCP and 6257 for UDP and I have also configured my BT Home Hub for the same ports.

I would be grateful if you could give me your great advice on what to do next. Thanks in advance. :lol:

check the router (the "home hub" - what a stupid name for something that isn't a hub...)

check your computers IP Address again, and check that the ports are forwarded to the correct place

when you move house everything is turned off, this means that although port forwardings will be saved, the temporary memory of which IP Addresses the router has given out is lost by the router, the computer loses the IP Address it was given, and the next time everything is turned back on they start assigning IP Addresses all over again with no memory of the previous allocations, this means that in all likelyhood the computers will be assigned new IP Addresses

Check that first, if that's not the problem then let us know (or join WinMxWorld.com Help_3F1FAF500666 and see if someone can help in there)

I believe also the BT HomeHub has a place to enable UnPn and if it does then using the Beta Patch located  HERE might also work for you.

This is in testing stages and has been found to work well except a small bug with OpenNap, if you use OpenNap then this may not be a wise idea for you yet.

My router is brand new and was only set up since i have been reconnected at this house.  I was with telewest before and everything was ok it is just now i have the problems since changing over to BT.

I have installed the Beta Patch from the link supplied above but my ratings are still P=5 S=0 SPM=4450, I'm sure this isn't right is it?
