'Finalizing' Incomplete Files
« on: November 15, 2006, 07:10:49 am »
:?:More frequently than I would like, a downloaded mpeg or mp3 file will be less than 100% complete, but look or sound good. Is there a way to 'Finalize' these files so that they can be played/shared? Thanks.

If you mean sharing incomplete video and audio files,  then these are shared automaticially if you share your incompletes folder. In the library, click on 'new folder' and share your incomplete files.

Incomplete files can be played as well. You just need the correct player for it. Personally, I use winamp for audio files and Video lan player for Video files

Cheers :P

Hi bilvihur,

The way to complete these files is this.. first go to your transfers screen and click the 'Load Incompletes' button, then run down the list and right click each one and select Auto Find Sources .. choose 10 Mins  then right click again and for mp3 files choose Auto Enter Que at 50 and for Vid files choose Auto Enter Que at 100.

Then highlight the files and choose 'Find Sources Now' there is a button up top or its on the right click menu also.

Any files you dont want to find souces simply dont set those above settings.. but WinMX will auto look for sources for you every 10 minutes and get you in queues to get the file up to 50 or higher to wait your turn for it.. this should find them and get them 100% complete for you ..

Thanks for the info, but I found a better way. The files I was referring to were literally 98-99% complete, but showing up in the library highlighted red. I was simply able to rename them in Windows Explorer; they play well, and the missing 1% isn't even noticable!
