Real Problems

Hi hope somoeone can help.  Have had WinMX now for many years and have not experienced any real problems until yesterday. Despite having all the latest patches I was able to connect and search for a file. When I went to download it would go green and download maybe 2040 bytes and then stop.

Nothing has changed on my PC, I use Norton but that is OK, I use a broadband moden not a router and that has always been ok.

So I tried the new 3.54 beta version but that was the same. Have now reloaded 3.53 and updated the patch but still no downloads are getting through.

As I say nothing has changed on my PC to cause this problem. Is it me or are there more issues?

that sounds like ISP interfearence cutting off the transfer

go to the chat room WinMxWorld.com Help_3F1FAF500666 and do a test with someone to confirm this

Noone answering my call in the room. Not sure if this proves anything but through the chat room I was able to browse and download from myself. I do not think it is ISP but you never knwo.

Any other suggestions technical wizards?

downloading from yourself doesn't go through your ISP it goes directly from winmx to winmx (if you have a router then perhaps through that, otherwise it never leaves the computer)

try the room again, there isn't always someone there 24/7 but most of the time there is, and being evening now it's normally got someone around whereas during the day there is often fewer people there (they use excuses about "work" or something to get out of it...)

the only way to really tell is a test transfer which requires going in to the room to do it
