Ok, I have both a question and a problem.

I installed MxMonitor just to give it a try for a single purpose: to keep a text log of my files that have completely uploaded to others. I was not interested in using it for anything else.. Unfortunately, even with most logging features turned off, it still spit out a number of things that are irrelevant to what I wanted with means sifting through the information. For that reason, I could just as easily stick with how I have been doing it: play and enqueue the files in Winamp and cut/paste from there to a text file.

So, is there a program out there that would do exactly what I want instead by logging into a text file only completed uploads/downloads?

Also, after installing MxMonitor and even after uninstalling it, any downloads (new or resumed) now start with the sources tree open when usernames and first added to it. Until then, it used to stay closed instead of opening. I would rather have the default closed back. Any ideas on how I can do that?

Thanks!
Downloading is an addiction I do not want to give up.

in settings under file transfers at the bottom there is a "New downloads expanded by default" option

as for the logging thing... erm, pass? it really depends if you even need logging, if you just want to see what people are getting from you while you are not watching then you can (on the same page in settings) disable the auto-clearing of completed uploads

Even with only logging transfers MXM will log more info than this user is after, winmx however can be set so these don't disappear from the transfers window, while incomplete uploads, timed out requests etc. do.  My own is actually set that way.

To get this information into a text file or similar would probably require manually entering them, or using an ocr program to process screenshots. It may be possible to use an automation program such as autoit (www.hiddensoft.com) to process the mxm logs & remove the unwanted information, by scripted editing within a program such as notepad, it would require only making it identify a characteristic of unwanted lines & then select & remove those lines.  Not impossible to script this sort of thing with it, but neither is it a task a typical pc user would want to get involved in..... That's the long answer.

The short one "No there isn't".

There was such a program made for sifting through the MxMoni logs believe it or not, the last place it was seen was on the smittys tavern site, and it worked with an MS office product maybe excel.
[edit] a look around the web shows this program as opening in open office [/edit]

ahh here we are ... Mx Moni log analyser

I can see this is a single file of sxc type that means nothing to me but thats the file they had there, if you can find a way to make it work let us know, if not well then I,m sure you havent lost anything but time.

Good luck.

KM, the logging of uploads is only my own choice. I do not NEED it really, but I am curious which files end up downloaded most often. The majority of my shared files I burned myself, and all of my files I have edited the tags in a few ways (such as adding covers), so until someone else downloads the file I am the only one with that specific file, which makes me wonder why someone would download from me (single user and being placed in a queue) over a group that all have the song together. I'm also curious of general interest: out of what I have, what are the best liked songs.

Bearded Blunder (and Max), yea that is pretty much it. Way more information than I wanted logged is saved. If I have to manually sift, through the logs to remove 80% garbage then I am no better off than I was doing things manually. I do have my settings such that completed downloads and uploads to no disappear, and I do it that way so that I can manually copy the files over to a text file. Plus, it seemed as if the day that I had MxM installed, I was having problems sending files. So I was trying ot avoid using it if possible instead of spending days getting things sorted out.

GhostShip, I will look into that.

Thanks again everyone.

Downloading is an addiction I do not want to give up.

I use leechhammer (LH) not moniter, but like you, I always wanted a list of uploads (curisosity / survey), and don't like that LH auto clears the list.  So I don't know the composition of your log file, but if it is a text file, you can deseign a batch prg that types the file to a different file and that filters out either lines you don't want or a line that you do.

Type filelog  |Find "unwanted test"/v > "new file log"
leave off the /v for text you want, and make the > into >> to append to the new file.

I write multiple filters like
Set F1=Find "unwanted 1"/v
Set F2=Find "unwanted 2"/v

then run cmd
Type filelog  |%F1%|%F2% >> "new file log"
