Sony : No Porn On Blu Ray Format

Prominent adult movie producer Digital Playground says it is forced to use HD DVD instead of Blu-ray, because Sony does not allow XXX-rated movies to be released on Blu-ray.

German Heise has interviewed Joone the founder of Digital Playgrounds at the AVN 2007 show in Las Vegas. Joone says actually said last year he is committed to Blu-ray. Now they announced four HD DVD titles in the United States. In the interview Joone says he was forced to use HD DVD, because no Blu-ray disc manufacturer would make his discs, because Sony was against it and they would loose their license.

If this holds true, Blu-ray is at a major disadvantage and could fail.

Considering this format is a little harder for the hackers to take down this seems like a serious shot in the foot, it really does seem the blu-ray is destined to become another white elephant.

Even though Sony won't do it, there's technically nothing stopping any other BD (blu-ray) manufacturer from making Joone's discs or any one else's discs. So is Joone lying? Maybe, maybe not. It could be that all the BD replicators he's talked to has refused to make his discs (there could be a limited number of them?), so he was forced to turn to HD DVD.

Point is, the picture isn't quite as clear as we thought before. Next-gen porn is just getting started.

...except that in order to make blueray disks you need a license from sony, which means sony can basically tell you what you can and can't put on to the disks
