FXServe 1.3.10beta
« on: March 11, 2007, 10:54:42 am »
Unlike previous versions of FXServer, there is not a 'hosts' file, there is now three ways to connect your FXServer,
1. Connection through your WinMX on it’s Primary connection, (please note: if you close connection of Winmx, the FXServer will loose connection also)
2. Connect through Cache IP’s that you add directly to your config, you may add up to ten IP’s, this is explained lower down in the options and on the config.
3. Connect through the ws2_32DLL 3rd party connection patch, do not add the cache ip's in the relevent section in the config, pop the DLL in your FXS folder, it WILL Connect.

There is also a separate motd txt file as this you can add entry pictures to as they are with no need of \n or #newline# this makes the config less conjested and allows greater flexibility.

in the config is the following connection options
Quote
/setWpnOption UseLocalWinmx=0 <--- set to 1 this connects through WinMX
/setWpnOption LocalWinmxPort= <--- add the port for WinMX if using it to connect (6699 default)
/setWpnOption UsePeerCacheList=1 <--- set to 1 if using peer caches (I have included an example)
/setWpnOption AddPeerCache=207.210.117.60
/setWpnOption AddPeerCache=
/setWpnOption AddPeerCache=

*** Remove these ---> /setWpnOption AddPeerCache=  <--- if you use the ws2_32DLL ***
*** Leave this as it is ---> /setWpnOption UsePeerCacheList=1 <--- set to 1 or it wont connect ***

2 things:

1. cache IP Addresses? seriously? damn how stupid can he be? has he *still* not figured out that fixed IP Addresses are really ridiculously stupid?
2. you forgot to mention where you saw that... fxserver website still looks down to me...

Hi KM,
sorry i forgot to say it was on my help desk too, i added it there when i first tested the fxs 1.3.10beta

i have done some testing both before and after my firewall decided it didnt like the beta version, we did have a discussion/post about the cache ip's being added and changing, that is why i ram some more tests

the fxs will connect with the ws2_32DLL in the folder and removing the /setWpnOption AddPeerCache= if it is in the config, because otherwise it looks fot cache ip's, but without that command it picks up the ws2_32DLL and connects, it is stable too.

well yes or the cache ip's wether ppl want to use WinMXWorld or the "other" one's
this way he left it open as to what way we want to connect.

i know there are growing concerns as to the state of fxserve site & forum, i have searched other places and found 3 other fxs forums with post as new March-05 & Feb-06 so it appears we are more up-to-date as they didn't even have the 1.3.10 listed.

is this the end? we don't know

For anyone that wants to host on fxs1.3.10beta, heres the setup
it will connect using ws2_32dll

Unlike previous versions of FXServer, there is not a 'hosts' file, there is now three ways to connect your FXServer,
1. Connection through your WinMX on it’s Primary connection, (please note: if you close connection of Winmx, the FXServer will loose connection also)
2. Connect through Cache IP’s that you add directly to your config, you may add up to ten IP’s, this is explained lower down in the options and on the config.
3. Connect through the ws2_32DLL 3rd party connection patch, do not add the cache ip's in the relevent section in the config, pop the DLL in your FXS folder.

There is also a separate motd txt file as this you can add entry pictures to as they are with no need of \n or #newline# this makes the config less conjested and allows greater flexibility.

Click the icon to start your program, your firewall if you have one (you should for security) will ask for permission to allow the FXServer, click yes to allow full access (tick the remember this application if its available)

Each time you start the server, it will check for updates. Then the main screen will show.

The top Section is your user list, when you right click on a name in the user list you see options for adding or removing admin & access levels and changing formats.
The left screen shows the primaries that you are connected to, this is a suggested maximum of 3.
The main window is where you see all the commands including loading the config and general chat.

There are some check boxes for Preferences,
Show Room: This connects the primaries king your room show on the WinMX Peer Network Channels list.
Local Host is always Co Host: This is for auto host when you enter your room, you don't need an admin password when this is enabled.
Show Commands: Disable or Enable the Show Commands, this will show all commands including the sever commands in the main chat screen for everyone to see.
Appear Admin: Hide or Show the Admin status of the FXServer Host.
FXServer Host Name: Here you see the host name, the check box will hide or show the host name on screen when in normal conversation.

In the Menu Bar (top left) is FXServ, Language and Help (question mark)
Click FXServ, in a menu you see Options.

There are five tabs: Options, Passwords, Advanced1, Advanced2, WPN

The Options Tab:

WPN connections (maximum of 3 connections is recommended)

Make A Primary Connection To Local WinMX tck the checkbox and add the port number (6699 is default WinMX port) to connect FXS through your WinMX.
Please Note: if you disconnect your WinMX for any reason, your FXS will disconnect itself.
