Using WinXP Home with a Westel Router on a DSL line. Does not connect using secondary connection request. Primary connection returns an error stating "outgoing TCP connections use a proxy server". Help please.

Hi Clover,

Open your WinMX Settings and then click on OutGoing TCP.. make sure the top option is ticked that says

Do Not Use A Proxy, Make a Direct Connection. Then restart in Secondary mode. Should connect fine. To get a primary connection your going to need to open ports in the Westel and you can find help on that here:

Thanks MeHere. I removed and reloaded the WinMX program, taking a little more care and waiting for the program to search ports, and now everything seems to be working ok. Might fool with other router ports later, got some bigger fish to fry first. Thanks again. Super help on this site and hope to contribute also.

I had the same problem with different IP. I done what u said and it worked a treat TYVM, mine also done a primary connection when i restarted so once again thx a lot.
