I can't get a file from my other computer! I KNOW that WinMX is up and running at the other house, and I KNOW that the file is there and shared... I did all that on purpose, see.
BUT...
I can't get the file or the user (my other computer... totally different nick and ip and household even)!
Is this normal?

if you mean you are searching and don't see it, that's because searches aren't global, it only searches the portion of the network nearby.

the best way to find your other computer is to use a chat room, put it in the chat room, then go in to that chat room from the other computer, and browse and download from there

or you can connect to opennap servers and find yourself via that as well

I honestly have never used opennap servers (knowingly) so that will be something to read up on...
Another question, same topic...
I searched for the file and one of the results was ME! :shock: That's normal, too?

It can happen yes, its a bug.. glitch.. anomaly. ..what ever you want to call it.. its not supposed to happen but it occationally does..

if you use 3.54 beta 4, then this should not happen.
It has however happened to me a few times with only a few specific servers, which makes me thnk that the server operators are the ones who are responsibe for it (not perhaps intentionally, just some option they ticked or left unticked)
