unable to connect
« on: May 20, 2007, 06:35:19 pm »
Hello!

I've come to this site often and have always found the solution to my winmx woes. However, I can not seem to find the answer that I'm looking for this time. I am using windows xp home with a 2wire dsl modem. I've opened ports and I've done everything that has been suggested yet i'm still not able to access winmx. All I get is "offline" box.  My problems started when I downloaded "autopatcher" from autopatcher.com This loaded sp1 and sp2 as well as a boat load of other software. I AM able to load winmx on my other computers that I did not download autopatcher onto. Does anyone have any suggestions. I've also turned off my firewall on xp, I've done the port forward thing with 2wire, and I've turned off my antivirus. Please help! I'm having withdrawls

was winmx installed before or after?

uninstall winmx, completely delete the winmx directory (by default it is in C:\Program Files) then reinstall from the installer on www.winmxgroup.com

it is likely it modified a specific registry entry which causes the patch to not load properly, which the installer should correct on a reinstall, if this is the case a reboot may be required before it works (although the installer won't prompt for one due to the fact that it is almost never needed, and I hate programs that tell you to reboot when it isn't needed)

winmx was installed before i did the autopatcher thing. I've already gone into the c:/programs/winmx thing and have deleted and reinstalled at least 10 times. I've also rebooted but nothing seems to work. I'm able to download winmx and install it on computers that does not have the autopatcher software loaded. winmx works like a charm on those computers. i just can't get my connectivity back on this one that i am needing it on. I guess no one has had this issue after installing autopatcher [this software contains all of the lates software sp1 sp2 and the like that is required by M$]

this software is located here: autopatcher.com

ok...

Here's the latest on my saga to get things back to normal [connecting to winmx].

Through trial and error I've discovered that the ".net framework" software was gumming up the works.

Therefore, I could not get the winmx software to recognize that my ports were forwarded and open.

Something about this software [.net framework] does not allow portforwarding and the like.

as soon as i removed this software, which came with the autopatcher download, I was able to log on to winmx.

I hope this helps anyone else that might be having problems.

see ya out there in winmx world!
