It Seems the worlds greatest search engine is in the news again.

Google Inc.'s claims that Microsoft Corp.'s built-in Vista desktop indexing and search tool violates its antitrust agreement could be difficult to prove even if the software does slow down the performance of Google's competitive Google Desktop offering.

seems M$ was keeping google in the dark about their little secret.

Microsoft Corp. knew of rival Google Inc.'s complaint to regulators about its desktop-search technology well before Google officially documented the issue in April.

The Wall Street Journal reported Monday that Google (GOOG) presented a white paper to the U.S. Justice Department and state attorneys general in April, which raised an antitrust complaint over the desktop-search feature in Microsoft's Vista operating system. Desktop search is a function that lets users scan the contents of their own computers.

However, a person familiar with the matter said that Microsoft (MSFT) was made aware of Google's concerns about its desktop search via a telephone call from the Justice Department in early December, shortly after the commercial launch of Vista in late November.
