Hi I am finally up and running again with this great program, thanks to this forum.

I have a really slow and terrible connection, so I would like to make sure winmx is running to the maximum of its capabilities. Can anybody tell me what the "P" and "S" values at the top of the program mean? Peers and Seeds maybe? I am concerned because "S" is always on zero for me....

Ok to answer your question P=Primary and S=Secondary. If you got to this web site: https://www.winmxworld.com/tutorials/wpn.html
This will explain the primaries and secondaries for you.

Also to understand how the patch works as it isn't always necessary to have secondaries is to go this web site https://www.winmxworld.com/tutorials/fake_file_info.html

However in saying saying all this the current patch works like this https://www.winmxworld.com/tutorials/patch_information.html.

Sorry about the web sites. All these sites have pictures about how winmx works and sometimes pictures help explain things. I hope this answers your question about P and S.

Very fast and excellent reply, thank you ST, I 'couldn't be clearer now.
It wasn't easy to get underway again, and with a lot of false starts, but now my D/Ls are motoring along, way faster than I can get Azureus BitTyrant to work...

you must also bear in mind your d/load speeds also depend on the speed of the ppl you are connecting to ..... so a slow down in speed dosent nessasarily mean a problem your end as sucking a golfball through a hosepipe can sometimes be a little difficult no matter how much suction you may have

Thanks Helen, the great thing is WinMx is D/Ling and U/ling at 50k/s - a big deal for me ! I am getting some solid connections, despite my noisy, 1 Meg line. This is way better than the torrent clients I have been struggling with. I'm not sucking anyone's hosepipe here

but it's worth saying out loud that WinmX is the democratic best ! BitTyrant is supposed to be fast as hell, but when you're stuck out too far from the exchange it just plain ain't as fast as our hero WinMx

The P & S thing was just me trying to find out if it could be working even quicker.
