where's the honesty in hiding a clear warning?

this is the EXACT sort of crap that drove me from vlad44's forum..

it's not bright to give out src code to stuff with the security implications that hijacking a program (which is what a connection patch for winmx does) and hijacking internet explorer into the bargain (if it doesn't rely on hosts for update bar), any more than it would have been bright for microsoft to publish the command-line switches they use to automate fdisk in dos/win9x setup, something THEY had the sense not to publish obviously even if others have these switches posted elsewhere.....

Merlin your a supervisor here and so far you havent even spoken to myself about this matter and your concerns, it seems instead of having confidence in anyone you took the route of attack, are the big letters really necessary in discussion why a post was moved that you yourself could have moved back ?

Whats the point of you having the same power as ourselves if you dont exercise your judgement when its necessary ?
If you feel strongly about any aspect of site policy please put the matter right and let us know of your actions as we would do, we have trust in you and whatever you do, as we believe you have trust in us.

i could perhaps have moved it back.. if i'd remembered where it was moved from in the first place.. which i did not

frankly there were a whole slew of posts on it after the move by lots of people yourself included who "could have moved it back" and should have.. the fact that you saw fit to post on it without restoring it before i ever saw it was moved tells me something about how important you felt open public debate to be...

i never asked for that power, i shan't miss it if it's removed, the only things i've ever done with it are correct typos & remove links to porn sites in any case..

i believe there may be a moderation log (someone mentioned once) which might have allowed me to find where it was from.. if i knew where to find the log.. which i also don't..

i don't move threads around for the very simple reason i'm unsure how to do it, the only time i've ever attempted to do anything more complex than a quick edit or remove post i destryed a huge chunk of the thread involved, so i won't do it, having the power is irrelevent i won't take the risk.

I too had to do some research to see where it was removed from, as I said its of benefit to us all to discuss winmx matters openely but I wont be cracking down on anyone who moved it because I also saw their point in doing so, our policy of group voting has ensured the status quo is restored.

I hope we can move on to the real topic in hand now this concern has been addressed.

in my personal opinion there has been too much moving and/or locking of threads recently,i may even undo some of it in future

The thread was originally in Think Tank section. I did not move it back because I didn't move from its origin to begin with. I believe Toad did. I did not, will not, and do not feel it is my place to go against Toad's wishes so therefor I left in the mods section in support of that decision because I feel we should support each other in questionable matters/ I did however post my opinion on it being moved so that Toad might know that while I support the move I also hoped Toad would see fit to move it back to Think Tank. Also as in Merlin's case, I don't know how to move a thread. But even if I did I would not have because I'm here to support any actions made by any admin, supervisor, or whatever is chosen for us to be called.

I wont be in that line because ive certainly done things that turned out to be a mistake but I will tell you this much I have always had the best intentions when making my mistakes and I believe the same can be said for Mrs T.  At least she took some action that she felt was best at the time because of other circumstances also that your not fully aware of Merlin or didnt bother to find out before making this post.  We can nit pick all you like you have the power as she did to put it back anywhere you wanted.  You can see the logs and see where it was moved from and finding out is not impossible for you or any 'supervisor' on this board.  We are all learning here I for one want no part of a board that doesnt allow ppl to make mistakes.


Secondly what exact posts are the ones that have been moved recently or ever for that matter to the moderators section that you would like to see restored (besides the one in question from KM).  For your convenience i have compiled a list of all the posts in the moderators section (I could find) and a note of who moved them.  You are a moderator here so you can follow the links if you like and please please tell me which ones fall into your ...

concerns.  Because you leave readers that Cant see that section with the impression that the moderators section if full of all the posts that disagree with anyone here so lets get it in the open ... any you feel should be restored just let me know and we'll discuss that.  At this point im half tempted to put them all back just so readers here can see what is there.

I did not cast a stone 1. I support the decision to move it although I disagreed with it. So I politely (at least I think so anyway) asked that it be moved back is all. You will never see me take an offending stance against anyone controlling this site because I believe in solidarity and unity as admins or supervisors or controllers. I thank whoever put it back into the open but in no way do I cast a stone at Toad for doing what she thought was right. Keep up the good work everybody. We're here for a good service.

The fact that the post was moved back, without deleting any posts from the Admins section, shows the users what really goes on here. It shows that we discuss things and take a vote on the outcome. This will also prove to anyone who tries to say otherwise that, yes this is what we do and here is the evidence.

look i'm stressed all to hell with other stuff right now, i may have overreacted with that post, though it does raise a legitimate concern for any public forum, what's allowed & what isn't, personally i prefer stuff debated openly

I couldn't agree more with you Merlin about debating and discussing.. the fact is we can only do what we are humanly capable of doing and as Toad is also stressed to hell with other things as are many of us lately    and was only trying to do what she felt was best, i can see no good coming from persecuting her for making judgment call nor do I see any reason to assume the site has taken some sinister turn based on one post being moved. 

I am however always open to talk about trends you see or things your concerned with on site as always.. so...

I meant what I said any posts moved  or threads locked, that are in question are up for discussions. 
Id much rather discuss then just get upset over things. 
There's been quite enough bad blood in my life lately and I'd rather avoid anymore with the folks here I love.

well i tweaked the other most annoying one (unlocked again) it & one or two others had been locked (it seemed to me pointlessly having gone inactive or relatively so in any case).. um may be an overboard reaction again, but well.. after all the stuff on v44 all that time ago, i find those lil padlocks offensive unless there's a very good reason for them.. an emotional reaction perhaps..

i tend towards the "hands off" moderation method wherever possible, here, the help room and my own room
