cant connect to winmx

go to settings * make sure it's set to don't use a proxy connect directly under outgoing tcp

you have yhe latest version but something you may not have is the connection fix as of july 12 2007 that you can get from here

download the version for existing installs and load this should get you connected Djpedro  if this does not work post back here with a few more details o/s security/connection etc & someone will be sure to get you sorted

also if you still have a problem plz give a little more info your o/system/security/connection(router/modem make?) winmx version

Hi i'm new to this board...I was an original user before winmx crashed the first time, and I've never had any trouble. But recently we had computer reformatted and of course, winmx was wiped out, so i re downloaded it. Now, I tried the version we had (3.53), and that wouldn't work, and I tried the newest one out, both with the patch, and it still wouldn't work, so I downloaded the patch by itself and tried that. And I still can't connect. I'm running windows ME and I have tried everything I could possibly think of...is there anything else that someone could suggest? I'm on dial-up so it's a secondary connection, I can't do primary.

Are you running a firewall? If so, please unallow winmx and allow again.

Also please try this if it doesnt work...

Download a patch called: Setup for Existing Installs of WinMX
than run that.

After this patch please run the patch called: Install for Multi-versions Patched on the same web page.

hi lindsey
because you're using windows ME it's a bit more complex
leave whatever version you have installed in place, download & run this file

this won't connect you but will resolve the issue with revised patch loading
then run setup for existing installs, which will update the dll

wow you guys are really fast. I wasn't behind a firewall (I probably should have mentioned that, sorry) but the link that Bearded Blunder gave me worked perfectly. I'm now fully connected and ready to go. Thank you very much for your help.

visit www.porforward.com look for it on the routers page (most modems are also routers), then look for winmx on the next page, there are full instructions there

I'm on a wireless conection  i dunno if thats whats  doing it or not but was working just  fine in may . but i wasn't on a wireless conection then.

Since May we have upgraded the patch so if you would like to go here
