The US has racheted up the ill will with its latest move.
http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSPEK15518920070815The Bush administration asked a world trade panel on Monday to force China to crack down on pirated goods, like U.S. movies and software.
"Over the past several years, China has taken tangible steps to improve (intellectual property rights) protection and enforcement. However, we still see important gaps that need to be addressed," Sean Spicer, spokesman for U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab, said in a statement.
The United States argues that slipshod rules have helped the booming industry of pirated American goods. The black market for these goods costs U.S. companies billions of dollars annually.

"In yet another aggressive move the US has asked the WTO to look at more possible sanctions for not ensuring the US media cartels a monopoly market".
China is one of the few countries to have passed laws recently in response to US requests, this is a kick in the teeth to them and it likely this will in time cause a trade war of some description, due to the masive amounts of material exported from China this is likely to ensure prices in the US for these normally cheap goods will start to spiral, take this along with the trillion dollar debt problem and lack of current confidence in the dollar itself this is not seen as a wise move, friendly discussions are certain to acheive more than waving a stick.
