EMI And Walmart To Deliver DRM-Free Music
« on: August 23, 2007, 09:04:39 am »
In yet another step forward in offering customers what the want EMI has secured a deal with Walmart to distibute its digital downloads without DRM, allowing folks to transfer purchased music between portable devices without any problems, a great move forward in anyones book,

Major record label EMI has released more DRM-free music. This time, it's with Wal-Mart's popular online music store. The music will be released at a bitrate of 256 kbps and the price will be 94 cents per track and $9.22 per album.

EMI is quickly racking up a history of casting away DRM (Digital Rights Management). The campaign of DRM-free music started in April this year when the major record label announced that they will start selling DRM-free music with the online retailer iTunes. The move sent shockwaves through those familiar with DRM and its relationship with the major record labels. In essence, it was the first time any major record label actually made a move in this direction. Just one month after this monumental move, EMI then launched DRM free music on Amazon.com. A month later, news came that EMI released more DRM free music with Snocap.

Well done EMI in taking yet another step into the real world, now we need only concern ourselves with the price rather than worry over whether the legally purchased tracks will actually play or not.

I shop at Wal-Mart as a religion almost. Not online, but actually in the store. It is good news and surprising really because since the founder of Wal-Mart died a few years ago they have become a company that got huge off of consumers then seemingly forgot how they got where they are.
When you wake up each morning always try to remember tomorrow is never your option, it's God's. Love like you want to. Live like you aren't afraid. And ALWAYS try to remember that even if it seems personal it's never as important as something you may have forgotten to do today.
