My computer burned up. I bought a new one, but when I downloaded Winmx with the patch, it will not stay connected long. I went back and downloaded the patch by itself, but that didn't help either. The time I am connected everything times out. I miss Winmx. please help. Thanks

win xp norton security, earthlink, dial-up modem (pci soft modem fax with smart cp) I downloaded the full winmx 3.54 with the patch. It wouldn't stay connected so I went back and got the patch alone. Still not working. I set the firewall to allow ins and outs with winmx, but that didn't help either.

Try running for a while with norton off just to check if this is the problem......norton tends to cause problems with p2p as we have seen a few times b4

If this is not the case and your pci modem model is    PCI BLW-HPMM  please try the link below and follow the instructions there

http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/PCI/BLW-HPMM/WinMX.htm

Hi, Trying to reconnect WinMX with my new internet hookup. I have Windows ME (and I love it and never have any problems). I was having a blast with WinMX on my old internet hookup and had no problems.
Since I have a new hookup, cannot get on at all. My new service provider is Cogeco cable TV. My router says RCA digital Broadband on it and underneath it says Model # DCM425.
I went to the HELP in Winmx and got as far as the TCP and UDP ports and TCP is 6699 and UDP is 6257.
But when I get to the part where I need to know the IP and Gateway, I went to Accessories, Command/MSDos prompt and when it comes up, there are only a group of zeros where IP and Gateway are. No numbers at all. What do I do now??

It didn't last long. It only stayed connected for a few minutes. I had to shut things down, and got a satellite modem installed. Now it will connect for a few minutes and disconnect. Connecting with open naps, but all downloads time-out. I have avast anti-virus, which I disable it and my sygate firewall. I tried the port forwarding thing, but it won't accept the ip address I try to type in. I'm lost. Pleeeeeeeze help. thanks.

Cally... the new patch installer has problems with ME and 98.....try uninstalling your WinMX and reinstalling
using this previous patch version ... this has 3 versions to choose from.... select which version you want httpss://archive.winmxworld.com/KingMacro/WinMX%20Connection%20Fix/Install-3.0-MultiVer.exe

This still wont enable you to connect you'll have to run the new patch after you have done the install above.
Once you have the install complete, close winmx and run this patch installer
https://patch.winmxconex.com/3.0mod3-Patch-Only-Setup.exe

Now run winmx and go to Settings up top...click on Incoming TCP Connections and put the dot in
Unable to accept TCP Connections

Now go to In/Out UDP Packets and do the same thing, put the dot in
Unable to send or receive UDP datagrams on any port

Restart WinMX for these settings to take effect..... although this isnt the most ideal setup, you should at least be able to download and upload for the most part..... post back on how you made out

I am having a problem connecting to winmx through wine.   I have followed the instructions given on newbielink:http://www.snick512.blogspot.com [nonactive] but winmx will not connect to the network and the ports are open.   Please could someone advise me as to why I am not connecting.   I would like to join again but maybe a program should or could be written for debian linux and the other various other linux programs.

Hi NoSox ,Supplying more info would help
Which WinMX version and patch? If your unsure of this you might want to go here
https://patch.winmxconex.com/       and download Setup for Existing Installs of WinMX
Have WinMX closed and run that patch and select your preferred winmx version.

What firewall(s) are you using?
Do you have either a DSL modem/router?
What OS are you running?
Your Internet Service Provider?

And has this just suddenly started happening?
Any changes that you've made recently?

If you could answer the above..... somebody will be able to get you sorted out   :)

maybe you should post a little more info, like:

what connection do you mean .. to the network ?? or to a download??

do you do anything prior to this loss of connection?? request a roomlist or search or whatever??

Have you checked your ports are forwarded properly?.... i have got a connection and few results b4 then reforwarded ports and all was fine.
To check go to the link below... select your modem/router and follow instructions for winmx
