Only downloads/uploads properly as Secondary

Hi there,
I have been trying to run as a Primary but my dl/ul speeds are awful.
Win XP
dll patch (removed hosts entry)
Router set to map TCP 6699 to local host
UDP  6257 to local host.
Works great as secondary connection but would like to do my bit
Anything I may have missed?

probably something to do with RIAA attacking primary connections.

Those with primary use also "PeerGuardian" or take some other action in order to block the attackers.

I just learned about peerguardian so I can`t help you more on this, hopefully someone else will...

Its a UDP port problem if your unable to get search results or a room list then you are probably also seeing something like this at the top of your screen on primary..

P= 9  S= 0  spm= 54643

This means your UDP port is blocked either by a firewall or a router.. we have excellant tutorials on these in out tutorial section

But.. that said I cant begin to stress enough the importance of protecting your self..

Use Sherwood or our patch here on site to block the flooding..

OKay, not sure if I posted properly previously.
Have dled PeerGuardian and the Sherwood patch and both are going crazy blocking Ip's.........Is this normal?
I still can't get my uploads working though
UDP in/out port 6257 open
Any other suggestions?

Stella tell me what your S= says .. this will tell me if your udp is ok or not..

Your uploads should be fine with that number Stella... I hate to be the one to mention this..

But.. who is your ISP ?

I wonder if it is maybe my 256/64 dsl connection? I am also unable to browse properly with winmx open. Takes forever sigh.....am a little frustrated

256 is plenty to have a primary connection....

Could not find any evidence that they are filtering or blocking ports.. however, I suggest a port change to see... these numbers will have to be put into any routers or firewalls you added ports into to work and of course into your WinMX

Go to Settings> Internet Connections > Incoming TCP change that to 58000.
Do the Same for IN/OUT UDP change that to 61000. Then restart MX and let me know if your uploads work...

Damn........no better. UL @ 0.41k/s DL worse. P=4 S=4 Can browse chat etc but speed making sharing almost impossible. Not too concerned about DL speed just want to share......... Anything else we can try?

Stella at this time WinMX needs all the Primaries it can get that support secondaries..

ie: P=8 S=13   ...

So I would say that the sharing is important but the primary you have is also VERY important, for now if its possible to just live with and stay primary until we can think of a better answer..

256/64 dsl connection is way too little for primary connections.

Even 384/128 dsl is not enough if you want to download/upload with some decent speed.

I think 512/256 is the minimum for primary connections
