Whatever happened to v 4.5.5??

My friend still uses winmx version 4.5.5 and I couldn't get it to work on my computer.....i dont know how he did it, but i would much rather use that version.  I like the way its layed out better and It just feels easier to use for me.  Anyone else know how to get it to connect??? 

just curious is there a reason why i couldnt really find anything about that version on this forum's search engine???

Not heard of that version myself but you can download many diffrent ones from here to try i prefer 354 beta 4 myself

i have seen an add for a newer version a v4.4 its the pay version that is identical to the v3.54
but with a splash screen to let you know you have to pay them to not connect,
people have had this version, paid mpney only to find it wont connect,
then they are told you cant cancel the payment or we sting you for even more money as its a contract.

All genuine WinMX versions are released by Frontcode Technology, hover over the winmx.exe file and if this information does no appear its not genuine or more likely not even WinMX, most of the scam versions are open src other p2p network clients hacked up by scammers to mislead folks into parting with money, do not do so.

WinMX is 100% free and should never be paid for, the last legitimate version is 3.54 beta 4 and the pre beta version was 3.53, either of those are genuine.

thanks its weird but the version my friend uses is also free, never has asked him for money, and its layout looks like limewire-but red and without all the crappy shit.  he's been using it for a few years and has never had any problems...

i'm currently using the version you recommended and it works fine, but it seems like i get fewer search results and even less luck with finding hosts for the downloads i want.  I could provide a screenshot of this program if it'd help you any

Ive seen this before however this 'skin' was being used on a client that was called WinMX 4 and connected to Ares.  This one looks like it connects to Limewire and both of those have no filtering in place to keep the fakes out so I dont advice using it if your serious bout finding files.. It defeinally wont ever connect to the WinMX Peer Network ..

i'm usually pretty good at finding out the fakes, most of what i download is anything but mainstream

i'm gonna try to use this program, i have actually had LESS luck finding good metal and such on the version everyone else uses than i've had on this version
