I know my ports aren't block cause if I run winmx without my router connected it works fine

must be a break in the signal at times causing the disconections ...something that happens at times on wireless routers (or so i been told)

Thanks H on E I was blocked because I posted a cpl site addys. Don't mind me i'm a bit of a forum noob. lol

Anyways, lakehavasu, I want to be clear about the things we have suggested to get you working again.

  1. You needed to reinstall the patch heres the link ... https://patch.winmxconex.com/
  2. You needed to forward ports using specific router instructions, heres the link ... http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/BEFW11S4/WinMX.htm
  3. You needed to setup a static ip heres the link ... http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm

If you've done these steps properly it will work. If you've already done them go back and recheck your settings, just one number off and it wont work

Good Luck. :)

Thanks 2aven, today I have literally gone crazy trying to make this work. No luck. I did all the static IP numbers and still can't get Winmx to connect. If it does connect it's only for a short time and then disconnects. Also in my ipconfig/all afterI forwarded all my port numbers and static IP, they never show up in there. On my linksys router if I do the Static IP numbers there I completely lose my internet connection. If I have it on (optain IP automatically) my internet connection will work. Looks like I will have to disconnect my router now if I want winmx to ever work again. Don't understand why it stopped working in the first place as I've been on winmx with this router for over 7 years.

possibly wear and tear as it is 7 years old ...perhaps time for a upgrade anyway

If your sure that you got all the settings right and it still doesn't work then yes it probably is time for a new router. 7 years id a good run on a router i hope mine lasts that long.  :)
