Winmx - Is It Working Correctly?
« on: February 29, 2008, 04:23:25 am »
Over the last couple of weeks my winmx has taken a dive. Search results turn up ok, but downloads are almost impossible to get started. Most of the time it just hangs up on (waiting for incoming connection). Also my Uploads are pretty much gone and no one is coming in. If they do it just times out after a few minutes and never connects. I know everything is good on my end as far as a windows firewall and router are concerned as winmx was working great here on my computer about a month ago. Bandwidth is also lower than usual. Just wondering if there is anything I can do, and if this problem is on my end. Thanks in adavance.

Mike

Hi Mike, occasionaly routers sometimes assign new LAN IP addresses to the pc's on a network. To check for your current LAN IP Address follow these steps below (if you dont know how to do so already)

Ckick start.... click run.... type in    cmd       and click OK.... when the black dos box appears type in
ipconfig       and hit enter on your keyboard....take note of the IP Address (Not the gateway IP).... close out from there and now access your routers settings and make sure that in the port forward rule you have for winmx that the IP you just took note of,matches the IP in that rule.

This may not be the problem but its worth double checking. If this doesnt help, post back and somebody will get you sorted out.  :)

Maybe your ISP has implemented a new layer of throttling, or changed you to LLU etc. Post back and let us know what has helped (if anything)

Actually I've been having the same problem and so have some of my roomies. When I start winmx it flashes yellow for a minute or two then finally connects only to find 10 mins later that I have no one in que and about 25 - 50 channels on the list. If I leave it alone eventually everything will kick in or if I refresh a few times I can finally grab a good secondary. Time outs i'm thinking but who knows ...
Also, a lot of instinces when pm's wont go though and ppl saying theyre having a hard time getting in rooms .. which may be realted or not.

The patch is the same one as released last august and no complaints have been made of it affecting anything, can I suggest you look into other avenues for potential problems, btw what O/S are you using Viper ?

Users2.titanichost.....  NOW you tell me. (looks over to the smoking remains of what was , at one time, a great Dell laptop<note book or what ever the heck it's called now> and sex training device <porn down loader>). "sighs" lest I know I was not the only one frustrated on the WINMX thing.
Great stuff, sometimes pain in the (_l_) for those of us that sweat for a living (have hard time just turning on a computer with out calling  tech support).
My knowledge consist of CTRL-ALT-DEL and press and hold power button for three seconds, pack computer up and send to DELL for repair and nasty jokes about my computer skills.
