Right first of all Curious what you have told me about your patch is its Pie which has 0 blocking or filtering abiltiy so that means that its likely a simple problem of fake files.  I wont say most fakes are of movie or tv shows there are plenty listed as mp3 and even karaoke files however, your much more likely to run across fake video files then mp3.

Now that all said there is a easy cure.

Go to this page:
 https://patch.winmxconex.com/

Download the first option 'Set Up For Existing Installs of WinMX'
Save this to the computer, when its finished run this.  It will remove the Pie patch and it will install the modified dll patch that has both blocking and filtering.
Next upon restart of WinMX I need you to go to your incomplete files on the transfer screen and Delete anything you have 0 bytes of or 0% as they are also likely fakes.

After all that go ahead and do some searching for files, you may very well see fewer results but all results you DO have will be real with the chance of actually getting one.

Fake files are put on the network via the RIAA companies and almost never download they almost always report as available but turn red.  After you have done this come back here and with your AVG and the like turned back on try some searching and downloading.

Let us know how that goes.

It would seem you are not taking on board the previous advice given about what you should do as far as patches/ports & setup goes

uninstall your existing winmx and mx pie patch as this is not helping things at all...... check your add and remove progs to make sure its all uninstalled  and install the version named above.

Go to here curiousminds & download the Install for WInMX v3.54 Patched
 https://patch.winmxconex.com/

Follow steps pointed out previously on forwarding ports by selecting your router model from the link provided below & follow the instructions for winmx
http://portforward.com/routers.htm

The tutorial you need to check out is on this site and can be accessed by using the link below
https://www.winmxworld.com/tutorials/firewall.html

To be honest i would uninstall the avg firewall completely and just use the windows firewall its as good as any & there is no need what so ever to have 2 installed as this causes problems in itself also i wouldn't have spysweeper running all the time....just scan periodically or to check d/loaded files as from past experience it block just about any and everything and calls just about everything to do with p2p a Trojan or malware falsely

There is a whole section on this site of tutorials all there to help just check the top of your page on the left next to the winmx icon and click on it there...... most answers to winmx problems are there

Ok, did what you guys said. Even the configuring port part.  I can get it to the download part in blue but it just stays at zero and then turns red.  Any other suggestions or should I just give up at this point. Thanks.

Never mind, it seems to work on certain files and not on others. How will I be able to tell this difference in the future. Thanks.

At this point Curious you should see in your update bar on WinMX

Patch Online     For Help visist:WinMXWorld.com

If you dont then let me know, Im going to assume you do for now as per your post above saying you followed the instructions.

It is quite possible to assume at this point that your ISP Mediacom maybe doing this to you, if running winmx with the ports set to Unable  on both Incoming TCP and In/Out UDP in settings yeilded the same results.  They have been known to be throttling p2p for nearly two years so its not a stretch.  This would explain why most turn red even after you've set things up correctly.

That said what I'd like for you to do is to come to the chat room we host and lets do some live tests with other users we know are working and see how that does.

If you've never used the Chat before its really simple:

Open WinMX, click the Chat button near the top.
Next you'll see a warning and you should click Continue here.
Now copy and paste the following line entirely:

WinMXWorld.com Help_EDB41354BABE

Paste this into the Filter bar you see ontop of the list of rooms on the Chat screen in WinMX.
Make sure there are no spaces on the end, then on the far right select Join.

This will get you into our room for live help, they may not all have read this so just tell them your having problems downloading, you have the Dll patch (if your update bar does in fact say Patch Online) this will save them some time diagnosing your issue and that you were told on the site to come in and test downloads from some real users.

hope this helps you

Hey me here, thanks for the advice on going to the chat room. I tried it a couple of times, and even asked for help.  I don't think there was anyone there to do so. No one answered a question after 10 minutes I left.  I did this room a couple of times today, and nothing.  Any particular times to try your suggestion? Thanks.

Curious all the users in there are volunteers and from all over the world, many of them are actually there to learn and chat too not to help or they feel they shouldnt.

My best advice is to come in and 'park' which is what we call it when you just keep the room there and stay in it and peak back ever so often to look for folks talking some may be able to help or get ahold of someone that can for you.  I actually did see right after you had left today once and was too late.

Its very relaxed atmosphere there so you need not worry about sitting in the room or that there will be any problems with you doing that.
