In a novel marketing campaign an author is offering an ebook for whatever you wish to pay for it, even free.
http://www.p2p-blog.com/item-691.htmlMatt Mason has released a PDF copy of his book "The Pirate's Dilemma" on his website Thepiratesdilemma.com.
Mason allows users to set the price for each download - and it can be as little as zero dollars. Mason explains that giving away the book for free could actually help him to sell more copies:
Mason doesn't release his copy under the terms of a Creative Commons license, so you'll technically still break copyright laws if you decide to spread the copy. However he doesn't seem to mind if copies pop up on file sharing networks:
What a nice man, I have returned a copy for myself to read and given a very small sum indeed, doubtless if the content is any good I'll give more next time, if only the music industry tried a few of their new artists on the same road I'm certain many more would diligently back the artists over free downloading, it is after all only natural to treat those favourably who have been fair to you.
