ok where to start lol i been gone for about a year now maybe longer im running windows xp just got winmx 3.54 cant get hold of the patch on the winmxconex thingy seems to be a 404 error erm did have it back for a month or so back then i got it up and running no problem this time i seem to find myself kicking the computer (poor thing) as i cant connect now and last time i could not upload download was fine upload sucked tryed old patches last time but im sure they have been updated also looking to open a colour room to bring back my old room as reqested by some locals last time i used wcs not sure on the mod so looking for advice on the best colour options as i say windows xp home / bt home hub router

and well and truely lost

ok this is becoming rather fun lol (i wish)
i have forwaded ports to allow mx
got the patch as above
got window xp
on bt home hub
and yet i still can not download or upload any ideas im fresh out

Talamascan, are you getting the green light ok?
Are you using primary at this time?

Try this for me if you 'Do' have the green light and are on primary.  Open WinMX > Settings > Incoming TCP - Set this to Unable (for now for testing)
Open In/Out UDP - Set the same.
Restart WinMX in secondary mode and let me know if things work this way or not.

If it does its a port issue and we'll go through that set up after we know.

in was getting green light in primary now on secondary with green light
as before it ques not sure if it will connect to download or upload yet but brings up channel list
where in primary this does not happen

ok Tal, it does seem to be ports then so lets just make sure BT Home Hub hasnt changed since i Last saw it can you verify for me that this looks like your hub

If it does can you tell me what ports you used and when it came time to add your new Game or Application you added the name of your device did you make sure this was 'your' computer name or IP? 

Also when creating a new application or game its important that you leave the 'Translate to.., and 'Trigger Protocol' and 'Trigger Port' are left blank and alone.

Only use the Protocol and Port Range fields.

That is strange i've not seen one do that really, just to be clear when creating the new game/application you are making two?  One for UDP and one for TCP and not using a range?

Basically here is the drill.  Create a new application with the name WinMX1 and 2 or what not, use two different ports and make the range that single port ie

59998  - 59998  UDP and another new one for say
59999 - 59999 TCP ? or someit. and leave all other fields blank (the ones mentioned above)

Once this is done go back to the Gaming and Applications main page and use the drop down boxes to choose both the rules names' you made and set them to your computer name.

If these are all set correctly already then let me know we'll begin to investigate other things that could be blocking it.

Ok Tal, make sure that if you have the XP Firewall on that is has the correct ports set up in it as per

If your using other firewalls then most are simply allow WinMX or dont but if you can add ports to yours then do so and make sure XP is off if you are using others.

Also can you make sure that your WinMX> Settings> Search> Auto Enter Que> is set to 100 as having this too low will cause timeouts as well.
