Hi, when I search I get my own file/files appearing. Not a major problem but it's never happened before, any idea's anyone?

Well it _has_ happened to me before and as far as I know all it means is that you accidentally searched for a file you already have.

Yes, this is a bug that happened in some of the beta 3.52 series.. its not harmful in anyway but if can loose its charms of seeing your self in your que quickly..

Usually a reinstll will do the trick...

The patch at https://www.winmxgroup.com/ can do this for you..

And again.. its not harmful so if you dont want to install anything you dont have to...

hi, I'm new here today and am having problems starting winmx still

I've downloaded the patch but still getting the yellow flashing, am I missing something ?
would appreciate any help from anyone please!

Well from your reading you may have noticed there have been a few patches released ..

So can you clairify which one you have for me or where you got it..

and what operating system you have and then I will do my best to get ya green again ...

Ok, to be clear you have tried to install the install 1.9.exe file for your XP operating system and still you have the yellow light..

Lets try this... after you install this program be sure that your program files are on your C:Drive and not a drive such as F: for example.
Then be sure the desk top short cut your using is pointing to the folder where this installed.

You can right click it and choose properties to be sure.

Once this is done, with WinMX closed go to your

Start > Run type 'cmd'
Then in the dos box type 'ipconfig /flushdns'

Now it should say 'Successfully flushed the DNS'

Restart your WinMX and let me know...

ok, yep, it's flushed and the title box thingy on the winmx window says patch operational
and the message next to it says don't forget to share your files!
but still flashing yellow, am I expecting it to work too quickly?

no it should be working very quickly..

There are some stuborn darn winmx.exe's out there tho..

Okay so heres my plan 'b'

I want you to uninstall your winmx completely.. make sure you dont even have a folker there anymore after u uninstall.

Then I want you to reboot your machine.. reinstall the WinMX from the Instal 1.9.exe you have.

Now once thats done I need you to make sure you have WinMX allowed in any firewalls and also if you have Norton 2005 antivirus, be sure you go to :
Options > Internet Worm Protection > Control Programs and allow WinMX there also..

Now restart WinMX....

OH WAIT... cross ya finders .. I am ..

Ok here is my plan.. ermm what plan are we to yet ...

ok call it plan 'c'

Below is a link to a hosts file, You sound like you have been using a few of these patches but I will explain exactly here just in case:

Shut down WinMX.

Go to your C:\Program Files\WinMX folder
For now rename the ws2_32.dll to oldws2_32.dll.

Go to your C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc folder
Look for your hosts file. Once you find this rename it to Original Hosts.

Now download and unzip the file below to that same folder.

Now do that 'DNS' Flush again as per the instructions in my previous post.

Then restart your WinMX...

This time cross stuff ..and ermm.. well pray to the WinMX Gods ..
