Winmx world declining?
« on: December 03, 2008, 07:10:30 am »
The forum stats look small for last month what is going on?

Edited by tig: this was originally changed from the original message. As you can see the comments did not relate to question to start with.

Here is the original thread question and statement:

Well it's December you guys and that means the monthy totals for for the forum stats are out. But last month had the lowest new members and most online of All previous months since we switched to simple machines forum. I beleive that everyone has noticed thatthere has been little development going on lately and the website seems to not be updated so I was just wondering if anyone had an ideas of how we can jump start our website again.  There are few new users and few problems so no more activity.

For November we have moved to a new ip addy. Not only that we have got things that we are thinking about and have discussed. Also in the outside world besides winmx things do come up. If you would like to pm me personally and let me know what needs to be updated than I will look at it and sort it.

You have been out of the loop abit this time of year is busy for a lot of us. Please be aware of this when you say that 'little development not going on'.

The forum was also moved to its own domain.  forum.winmxworld.com  instead of forum.winmxworld.com/  like it used to be. I would imagine all your seeing is spiders still not caught up with this change. Site statistics that you cant see show WMW is still as busy as its always been. We are still showing record numbers on the patch download site. So JOSH before you come here painting doom why dont you ask one of the supervisors. Or is it that you are slowly pissing them all off and havent had a decent reply. You are still banned from the internet, mind your own business and go play with the mxstuff morons.

About the "record numbers". Exactly what are the numbers. And how do these "records" compare to before km left ?  Would you still call them records? ;-)

These records are still high after weeks of changing. I know that as i am in the help room as well as here. I do not have the specific numbers however, it is definiately over half that have changed with little or minor issues. Eagle has done a great job.

Things have indeed been quiet, this year much effort went into ensuring the community patch rollout was smooth and prepared, many of the community developers are now at university and have started jobs etc, would you rather we asked them to not make a living in what is a time when folks need every cent they can get to stay afloat ?

When there is an emergency they will be here to help as will all the other support staff who are enjoying winmx without the drama we have faced over the last few years, when new items are mentioned they will as normal get their own tutorial, its funny how we have so much material on this site that folks dont need to come asking anymore, google takes them to what they need but I,m sure you know that yourself.

I have made public predictions some time ago regarding a slow decline of the userbase based on not being able to defeat some of the throttling and other issues that should be addressed, I make no bones that at some stage we will contract as a group unless we make more noise across the internet to top up the numbers , but and this is a big but, work is progressing once more on new code for a client and its work such as this that will help deliver updates that will see the users once again flock to a more secure and safe network, rome wasnt built overnight and the community is patient as long as there is no emergency, currently this is the case, in the future we hope to deliver something to the community this is the goal we have set some time ago and it is taking shape regardless of whether this months figures go up or down or even sit static.

Sorry for the drama folks, if you have any concerns plaese feel free to ask questions etc as we dont sit on a pedestal here but are ordinary folks like yourself lucky to be in the position to hold your trust , this is a responsibility we take seriously and we hope to deliver whatever you need as network users, if you feel something is lacking please let us know.

Its fairly obvious, when the new patch has so few issues, then help posts wont appear. When the community is no longer dictated by such a controvertial person, then there are little or no issues to discuss and fight over. The new emerging community should be congratulated on smooth development, testing and roll out, with no associated drama, something that was never the case in the past.

It is true Winmx would benifit from a complete upgrade, and i'm sure that will come in time, but for now, i for one am pleased few users need help, i am pleased there are zero dramas, and i am pleased the remains of previous setups are being slowly but surely removed, meanwhile, the user base steadily recovers, files increase and the past becomes a distant memory.

That is very true Nobby. We have seen limited problems with the patch and we have all have seen the winmx community move into a new direction.

I would like to say thanks to everyone involved by this step and hope that it stays like this for many years to come. :D :D

When I first was pointed at this post this morning I knew I had to respond. But I had to think of just the right thing to say. I remember looking on here the other night and noticing that posts were down. And I thought how nice it was to not be pointed to another "shit stirring" post where all someone intended to do was stir people up and cause drama. After the past couple of years with pie and WMW at each other it seemed like all we got to read on here was how shitty this person. How shitty that person was. For once I'm glad to see that that is not the case now or hasn't been for some time at least. Pie and WMW proudly present a common patch that both groups approve of, KM is not the master of the universe as once was thought, although I'll say what he did in the good of this community should never be overlooked just because of the issues he caused at the end of his time as a WMW member. Nobby is still Nobby and I'll refrain from calling him Nobber anymore (or at least until which time I deem it funny or a must do). What good are record postings of issues of drama that are totalling uncalled for and unneeded? Give me an all time low number of postings anyday of legitimate problems with WinMX over a record number of bullshit postings saying that this person is super evil or that person is super evil. What to think of a record? Let's make a new mold that's not about the number of posters but of the number of days a posters *HAVE NOT* posted of horseshit that has nothing to do with the forum or WinMX's wellbeing, but only with this users who having nothing better to do than be concerned with what the site records were PRE KM vs POST KM. And to be honest, most of us really don't give a horse's ass of the differences in those statistics and only a horse's ass would find that important. Guess that's all I have on it to be honest.
When you wake up each morning always try to remember tomorrow is never your option, it's God's. Love like you want to. Live like you aren't afraid. And ALWAYS try to remember that even if it seems personal it's never as important as something you may have forgotten to do today.
