Can't Download/Upload after going wireless....
« on: May 30, 2009, 05:19:11 am »
Hi all, I need help.

I recently went download. Now I can't download any files and people can't download my files.
I can still get myself in queue, but can never download.... not a single one of them.
The same with people who wanted to download from me.
People can't even get into queue to download from me. Always Timed Out

Before I used LAN with Microsoft VPN. All worked alright.
I have another VPN by CISCO, I noticed that the same thing with wireless also happened when I used CISCO.
No biggie back then, I simply use Microsoft whenever I want to connect to WinMx

I use Windows Firewall, but I already put WinMx application into exceptions.
Anyway, it never becomes problem before when I use Windows VPN.

I'm not very computer literate tho...

Thanks  :)

Your wireless router needs to be configured.
theres a program to do this that can be found here: http://www.simpleportforwarding.com/download
Just select winmx from the drop down menu and in the tools menu enable static ip and add windows firewall exception.

HI Gipsy you should make sure you have version 2.4.5

then right click the big blanc window under app name... choose add new and there 's your dropdown list with programs under programdatabase
keep in mind that ports in your winmx should be the default ones and your ip should be static (this guy offers a little program for that too)

if you see the program droplist but no winmx in it you ve got an older version than 2.4.5 (before winmx was requested to be added to that list)

if you are sure you have 2.4.5 ... you make sure you choose the database tab and not the custom one (custum would be used if you don t use default ports or the program is missing from the list)

hope this helped alittle more ;-)

Maybe you can tell at what step you get lost

i mean:
can you see and click ADD NEW?
does the window on the left open after that?
 etc

or just do as forested said, i guess there s someone there that knows about this program too

That last screenshot i posted was not one of a website... it is one of the program simpleportforwarder in action

please open the program and compare what you see there to that last screenshot i attached

in the pic i have added 2 text boxes that tell you where to click (a bit hard to read though)
