Just got reconnected with 2.9 patch, questions

Hi

We just got reconnected with patch 2.9 exe, although the link said 1.9 exe.  We are using XP SP2.  This is the first patch that has worked for us since the end of September.

Just wondering about  this new connection, it doesn't have anything to do with the open nap, does it?  I tried the open nap for one weekend and I got a nasty warning from my internet provider, and I don't want to repeat this.  Does this version offer the same anonymity as before?

Also, I can only use a secondary connection because of my hardware firewall.  Is there any way to screen out all these fakes?!!

Just wanted to find out if you dont mind, there is no such patch as the 2.9 and would be very interested in knowing  the exact location you read the 2.9 or where you received the link to obtain the patch your using now.  There are lots of sites that would love to attempt to claim KM's work as their own, not that it matters as long as your connected.. just curious on that.

This is WinMX!  If you successfully installed the 1.9 patch you are on the WinMX Peer Network, and although you are still free to use the open nap functions you are not solely on OpenNap at all.  In fact unless you take the steps required to use the OpenNap with your WinMX you cant get on it.

And under Fix Your WinMX and forget it  there is "WinMX Group Site"

That leads you to a link labeled Get Version 1.9 of the patch here.  When I clicked on this link today, I was able to download 3.9.exe.  Yesterday's  fix that I installed was 2.9.exe.  

Everything seems to be working OK.  I was thinking of installing Peerguardian 2, will this cause any problems with WinMX and the current fix?

Well just so not to confuse folks the patch located on the WinMX Group site is 1.9 and has been so since Oct. 11th.  

Yes yall can install and run Peerguardian 2 with this patch with no problems in compatibilties what so ever....

Here is  the link for the latest PeerGuardian and the Block Lists it highly recommended you add also, all be it not as important for your situation as the 1.9 .dll patch uses this same Block list we have there.
