Illegal-file sharing could 'cost billions' by 2015

The growth of illegal file-sharing could cost European countries 1.2m jobs and 240bn euros (£215bn) by 2015, an industry report claims.

The study, commissioned by an industry body and endorsed by trade unions, studied the impact of web piracy in Germany, UK, France, Italy and Spain.

It claims that without measures to curb piracy, the UK alone could lose up a quarter of a million jobs by 2015.

But campaigners described the report as "corporate propaganda".

So if piracy is stopped the cartels earn an extra £215bn and millions of extra jobs will be created? If you believe that you probably also believe pigs can fly. It seems creative accounting isn't a lost art.  8)

Its not just campaigners who describe the report as propaganda its de-facto propaganda by the mere fact that they pay the same companies every year to "produce" the same findings all mysteriously based on data and "proprietary" figures that only the Cartel have access to, even the UK govt is unable to verify these industry claims thus they remain industry claims and a source of derision and mirth amongst those of with a brain.

In the same vien I think I should play this same game by citing that one third of recording label bosses could be heavy drug takers and sexual predators, its about as accurate as the Cartels "guesstimates" and fake dollar loss predictions.
