Complete Files Showing as Incomplete
« on: April 15, 2007, 02:37:04 am »
Hiya
Over the last couple of weeks I have noticed that my finished files aren't automatically registering as complete.  Once they have finished downloading I am now having to move them to a separate folder and rename them  - deleting the part of the filename that says 'Incomplete' along with all the numbers at the end.  Any ideas how I may be able to fix this. Cheers

My guess is WinMx can't rename the files because some other program has not released a lock on them when finished playing or viewing them. What program are you using to 'preview' the files while they are being downloaded? Whatever it is, it's stopping WinMx from renaming the files when the download completes.

I am having the same problem. Recently I bought a new computer running windows vista home premium. I downloaded WinMX v3.54 and the new patch but completed files still show up as incomplete. Also when I delete unsuccessfull downloads through WinMX it does not remove the file from my computer. Any insight into how to correct these problems would be great. Thanks

Set administrator access to the winmx folder as given in that topic
that ought to help.

Cheers :P
Reconnect to winmx with the blocking patch :)

I appreciate your quick response, unfortunately taking ownership did not fix the filenaming error. The screenshot below shows both incomplete and complete downloads, but as you can see all files are named starting with incomplete. the highlighted one is the test one i downloaded after following the tutorial you linked to above inorder to give ownership. I look forward to any further insight you might have.

Hi DCPimp,
When you get back from all the Holiday Goodness and the formentioned fixes don't work (which for the vista issue, they wont) try reading this thread:

https://forum.winmxworld.com/index.php?topic=7410.msg44211#msg44211

This is a common problem with WinMX and Vista
Hope this helps   :)
