I have a strange question about sherwood.  When i have it running and winmx is off...it is blocking ip's   Where are they comming from?

Once the flooding IP get ahold of your connection they try to keep ahold of it for as long as possible, this is I suspect for two reasons, one is we have limited numbers of primarys for them to get ahold of so they hang on to you incase you get back on soon, but mostly .. its a DOS attack, clogging up your connection in order to deny you service...

Now your seeing some of how damaging they can be..

Hey Gus,

When you go to the download page
Download this one 'Core Insaller Version 1.1.1b'

If you get a message that its missing a library file then you may need this one 'msvbvm60.dll <-- May Be Needed' most operating system already have this one in place tho.

That should be all you need..

Having installed  sherwood i keep gettingt message socket # network connection blocked .Is this them blocking or my isp.cant figure how to get an answer from them as they want send to user and i cant figure that out .Also see some people talking about large files .I have 1254 online one group 134 files so dont  think all large files are hackers lol .have a grt day .Gus

well ok i download the file and its corrupted.

If you get a corrupted message with a download its usually because the file didnt actually complete.. so my best advice would be to try it again and see if you are getting the full version downloaded.. However, for this I would suggest you either use PeerGuardian with our block list added if your not already on our WinMx Group Patch and your a  primary user, or if you just want to run some protection.

At this time I am having difficulty keeping up with the Sherwood lists and whether they are acurate and up to date so suggest PG2 or our patch to block the RIAA..

Actually as long as you have our block list installed as a peer guardian list you really dont need to use Sherwood.. it operates off of the same list we have here..
