Upload/Download Speed Match
« on: September 11, 2012, 07:14:50 pm »
Hi. I am currently using winmx v3.31 with QuickMX. I need a program that will manage upload speed and download speeds. I want my download speed from users to match the upload speed to the same users so that its always fair

We don't support the use of quickmx, it causes additional unnecessary network load.
Please don't use it.

I suspect that MSmithy is mentioning this at this stage to obtain some reassurances that a fairs-fair exchange feature might be built into the new client however its not on the list of critical additions and its quite likely it may never be as it encourages trading instead of open sharing, I think a public vote might be necessary before such a feature was added and then a proper discussion could take place on the merits of having such a feature or not.

the insane requirements of ratios on private torrent trackers is a good example of 'why not' to have this feature....

wanna 'trade' use filetopia in trade mode or a private tracker... wanna share use mx and opennap and public trackers...

*groan*

btw, quickmx worked its best during the days when the network had a decent population... the small population it has now makes quickmx pointless... esp since it is under attack... you are just adding noise to noise...

I say lets design everything around having the most secure & efficient client / network possible, and worry about the rest later. When designing or building anything the foundation is the most important part. If you build on sand all the bells and whistles in the world want mean anything because its all going to come tumbling down.
