Microsoft is going to stop supporting Windows 7 from Tuesday so that it can focus on "newer technologies".
As a result, Windows 7 users will no longer receive the all-important security updates and patches that keep their machines safe.
It means that Microsoft is ending the cat-and-mouse game with hackers seeking to exploit software bugs in the Windows 7 operating system.
If perpetrators find a flaw in Windows 7, Microsoft will not fix it.

It seems that despite years of fine tuning the code base and developing tools to scan code for all manner of exploits nothing has changed.

The US National Security Agency (NSA) has revealed a major flaw in Windows 10 that could have been used by hackers to create malicious software that looked legitimate.

Microsoft is expected to issue a patch later and to say that the bug has not been exploited by hackers.
The issue was revealed during an NSA press conference. It was not clear how long it had known about it before revealing it to Microsoft.

The problem exists in a core component of Windows known as crypt32.dll, a program that allows software developers to access various functions, such as digital certificates which are used to sign software.

Why anyone would expect anything different from MS is perhaps the real mystery here

i wonder what will happen at the 49.7 day mark now that automatic updates isnt there to reboot win7 every month...

btw; win10 doesnt have a proper test team like previous versions of windows, they rely on insiders and to a lesser degree the end users of 'stable' releases, so its not as well built as previous versions..

Microsoft has given Windows 7 users a parting gift with its last update as some holdouts are reporting existing desktop wallpaper being replaced by a sombre black screen – presumably in mourning for the veteran OS.

Others have also called out problems on Windows 10, but it is the venerable (and potentially vulnerable) 7 that is generating the most heat.

I still dont know why they havent open sourced the code for XP so folks can play with it and do as they wish...or maybe thats the reason in a nutshell.

Wn10 is less likely to appear on my machines than dos 6.22 and windows 3.11 for workgroups ..lol

I just cant waste time with such rubbish and a company that offers 50 shades of worse.
