IE7 has small conflicts with... well, quite a lot of things

just out of curiosity, after installing IE7 did the installer suddenly start suggesting that you install the 3.53 version instead of the 3.54 version? it should have done but of course that wasn't overly tested (due to not having too many different system configurations to test on... and most people stay well clear of IE7 so can't help with testing that, lol)

Did you try version 3.53?
If I got that right that one is supposed to work.

Yes I think that's going to work.  I did install 3.54 originally.

Use Firefox. Nothing to do with Winmx, this advice, btw ;)

I'm also having this problem.  It happens with 3.53 and 3.54.  Also with or without MXmonitor running.  Sometimes, it takes days to happen, other times, only a few hours.  I have seen an error message that says MX could not read from a memory location, only once that I recall.

Thanks for all your work with MX.

Guest be sure you have the latest patch from here :

www.winmxgroup.com/  the latest is 2.2.  Install that and also clear all of your incompletes.

The RIAA have a fun little game they play, its called plant fake files that find up to hundreds of sources when you attempt to download one or when you start up your WinMx.  Re-introduce your incompletes one at a time so that you can watch them.  If you have one finding this many soureces quickly chances are its your culprit.

Preview it and make sure its not a fake.  If you cant tell and you suspect it is.. dump it and start again.

I'm running the 2.2 patch and peer guardian.  Is there a problem with this combo?

Thanks.

Absolutely no problem with running both 2.2 patch & PG2, PG2 will block flooder connection attempts before the blocking in the patch sees them, but it's no problem & they ARE blocked, which is certainly a good thing.

WinMX crashed again.   I copied this error message.

{CiceroUIWndFrame : WinMx.exe - Application Error

instruction "0x7470b4b" referenced memory at "0x00000a88"
The memory could not be "read"}

had problems with mx crashing in either the first few minutes or between 45/55 mins, kept getting the windows mx has a problem and needs to close.I removed all the downloads in my list which were at 0 bytes but not the partially downloaded ones and the problems stopped,i have now been online with no problems for 42hrs,i also removed the dll file from my mx folder but dont think this really had anything to do with the issue.

This is becoming more common, and should be taken seriously..

OK, I cleared out all incompletes, started MX.  Only uploading going on, no downloads.  Crashed again after 12 hours online.  So I can rule out incomplete files causing this problem.  Any other ideas or suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

After reading your posted error and seeing its listing something not used in winmx (CiceroUIWndFrame) I took a look for this particular item.

Follow this google link

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2004-51,GGLD:en&q=CiceroUIWndFrame

From the first few listings it seems its a known defect in Office and can be resolved by following the instructions there.

Thanks for the tip.  I just tried to disable the alternate interface in office and it stopped me from doing so because WinMX was using it.  I'll try again after I exit MX.  I find it odd that WinMx is using a program associated with MS Office.

Thanks again.

dont quote me on this.. but its my understanding its not WinMx exactly its the WinMx theme..

Are you using a special theme perhaps.. a .clr file?

Yeah this is happening to me but instantaneously, every time I try to run WinMX.  Iam using IE7 (which I like) so I'll try installing 3.53.  Is that the best idea?

Yes with IE7 you have to use 3.53 and the 3.53 version of the patch for WinMx should work fine..

I have to say that the issue with MS office must have been the problem.  WinMX has not crashed in 3 days since I disabled that feature.  That's again for the help.
