can the next version of bidebot send the "3.53 compatible" message to the room, or at least have it as an option?  this is a big issue right now - for some reason fx seems to have issues giving cohost access to 3.31 clients.  i'm a bit miffed that fx does this - can't think of a technical reason why or even how this could happen accidentally - but since fede still seems to be mia the easiest fix seems to be in the bot.

the "customize the file count" thing isn't really a big issue to me - but if the option were there, i'd set it to 0, just so users don't waste their time trying to browse the bot.  i wish all bots would do that, personally.  i don't really like the "liars".

btw, i noticed that bidebot came with a copy of the gpl, but not any source code - is the code available somewhere that i can't find?  or are you basically saying "you can't legally share this program with anyone, since you must include the source code, but i didn't give you any"?

ver 0.0.4 ( Lady Ray Edition)  (12-05-2007)

0.0

let me guess, she broke enough things that you named the entire version after her because of the number of bug fixes? yes, she's annoying like that... lol

i'm having problems with the console display in 0.0.4 :/

* messages not displayed
* messages displayed but word-wrapped at random widths - 1/8th window width, or even just one character to a line
* "clear console" doesn't immediately clear console; it takes some clicking/scrolling before it decides to clear

ty btw for the 3.53 option - that was fast = )

Sirmoon,
can you send me screenshots with the problems and what is your winmx server, your O.S, your screen size ?

i remind to you that BidebotMx is not a chat client,  it is a bot   :wink:

thanks    /0\

fx (but problem can also occur before even joining a server, with the messages that are displayed at startup)
xp
1280x720

as far as screenshots, there's not much to show for 1) messages that don't show up (they're just not there) and 2) window that doesn't clear immediately when "clear console" is clicked (it's just still got text in it - nothing really to see)
i will try to provide screenshots for 3) weird word-wrapping the next time i see it (it mostly just likes to not display messages at all).  also it just did something different this time - 4) it cleared the console by itself when a message came from the chatroom.

the old console continues to work fine - running 0.0.3 doesn't do any of that.  of course, as you say, the console is a secondary concern to the bot function - but having it like this is worse than not having a console at all.  i hope you can find the cause :/  failing that, can we just use the older console and block any messages containing \rtf?

ok, i found a screenshot for not displaying messages that might be interesting - here it shows the timestamp but not the message.  at this point too it's broken and won't display any more messages.

oops sorry the strange thing is that you have  Support protocol 3.53  before the first timestamp with  ONCONNECT  like that :

Quote
Connecting to 90.22.100.208 on port 16699
Connection OK.
Remote Server    : 90.22.100.208.
Current NickName : BideBotMX..123_35163.
[03:16:28] ONCONNECT
Support protocol 3.53
Code 0x9904
Code 0x9900
[03:16:28] ONTEXT -->   >> FXServer
[03:16:28] ONTEXT -->   >>

three things:

1) like i said (but perhaps not clearly) it sometimes skips over messages, so it may be that ONCONNECT and such did happen but weren't displayed
2) fxserv is 1.3.9 - nothing unusual there i don't think
3) tried the 0.0.5 version two times.  the first time, it seemed to be working right until i cleared the console, at which point it _did_ clear immediately but then it stopped displaying any messages at all.  i quit it and tried it again, and it immediately gave me this odd result (screenshot attached).  note that the scrollbar's at the very bottom.  if i try to scroll up, just a single click, the console completely blacks out.  if i scroll it all the way up to the very top then i can see the earlier output, but then again scrolling it a single click down blacks it out until i get all the way to the bottom.

i don't know what to make of any of this - the issues seem to be completely different every time i run it.  i'm sure if it was more consistent and reproducible it'd be easier to fix :/

OK.. I dont usually use the Clear Console feature really but i tried it just to see.. for testing..

I had no problems with it like SirMoon's .. It cleared and continued to display messages correctly for me.  the Cafe is on WCS linux version latest beta.

btw, there's no need for "RTF Protection"... just read the documentation, if you use the control correctly there isn't a problem - there's only a problem when people use the control without reading the documentation ;-)
