KM Actions And How They Affect You

Folks I have been patient with KM but he has steadfstly refused to do two things that have been asked of him

1) Update the "typo" in his WCS 1.8 RC series that have been causing listing problems for many chat users and hosts for some time now. (see below)

2) Discontinue displaying private searches made on the network, handing all your IP info to anyone like the RIAA, bayTSP who may want to send you a extortion threat letter without proof as they normally do.

I have not pressed him hard to resolve these matters as I should have done earlier and this was for the simple reason I did not want matters to deteriorate further than they have done over the past few weeks, it now clear he has no intention of respecting anyone rights to use mx or their rights to privacy, I apologise for waiting and hoping he would do the right thing.

For this reason can I ask all users of the WCS 1.8 RC series 1-6   to first email KM for a fix and if thats not forthcoming then to discontinue using it as its being used to maliciously attack the network.

This is not the first time KM has made a bug that affects us all ( MCS chat server secondary client crashing bug) but it is the first time he has sat by blaming others over the weeks for problems he himself is making by abusing the network protocol, I hope you can all agree this is not whats expected of him and join with me in asking him to stop acting stupidly and sort these important matters out, it is after all expected that he likes to experiment but when it destroys a large portion of the communitys enjoyment of the network driving them away we must tell him with one voice enough is enough, since his last patch and cache pulling escapades we have lost something like 100 + chat rooms, a true loss to the community.

KM, do the right thing and resolve these matters, neither I nor the community give in to blackmail or more threats, this is not open for debate, please take action today.

why cant every one just work together in makin mx a bigger and better place for everyone most of us dont even download from mx no more we come here coz this is were are friends are we build we create for other peoples enjoyment and tha self satisfaction of noing tha someone else is enjoying something we have built and here to make friends i will for one will be sad to see mx die and wont sit bk and watch someone trying to kill it wivout voicing my opinion please re-consider ur actions mx is a comunnity not a battlefield the goverment shut us down we survived thks 2  u guys now u r killing us :{{

you all got us back when we was terminated before, now it seems the very person that helped us is now killing us,
i had to use pie today just to connect the two rooms that i hold up for other people,
imagine i now recommend the 1 thing we been discouraging people to use, just so we can get connected, most people now use robo or other chat clients,
if you wanted to destroy winmx by attacking the caches or whatever you are doing, why did you rescue us the 1st time round? was it a game to see how long you can string us along before slapping us down?
i have lost faith now, im using pie to host the fx rooms for the people that rely on me, its either that or drop out like they have been doing untill people get sick of it and stop coming back.
you are playing with our friends, messing up what was once fun, its now " i wonder how long i can stay connected this time "

I'm not sure I want to even remotely be involved in this fight - if it can be avoided, but what exactly do you mean by that? Where/to who is this stuff being displayed, & how can someone keep it from happening? Thanks!

Bah, I think it's a program which is connecting as a primary and collecting every datas passing through it... With that kind of program, you can know who is searching what, the room list request etc...

Its a shame so much knowledge is now being used against winmx. If its a bug fix the damn thing or put a update up to disscontinue use of this programme. The ramifications of flooding the channel list with bad primary ips is far worse and you know it.

the reason there is no rush to release this minor bug is because it has absolutely no detectable impact on the network - simple as that, in fact as ghost is well aware there are only 2 issues caused by it

1. slightly increased bandwidth usage by channel hosts (with WCS users the only ones effected enough for there to be any issue, nothing outside of WCS is effected in a detrimental way)

2. if someone were to go shouting about the flaw on the WPN then there are major longer term risks from things that aren't accidental (for example giving people ideas of how to attack doing the same as this bug is doing would have devistating effect and result in the network being effectively useless, as an attack would not be as harmless as this bug), something he knew about before he started going around shouting about it trying to cause this to be a problem

oh and why not, 3. i will issue an immediate bug fix if you can justify a single one of our claims of "network disruption", somehow i doubt you'll come up with anything beyond "but this is a screen shot of a tiny fraction of packets monitored and it shows that the smallest fraction of traffic is now only second smallest", hardly any confirmation of any real issues

i always said FXS was far superior in looks, customisation, also uses less WPN's & bandwidth than WCS.
i maintain that FXS is still superior.

As for it being undetectable, I will have to comment on this.

For quite some time now, people have been upset about the 'sudden dramatic' jump in bandwidth usage that this bug has caused. That hardly equates to 'undetectable'.

There have been MANY complaints about it, so perhaps you are not aware of how much of an issue it has become...

If that is not enough motivation to fix it, then the comunity wil do as they always have... Move to something better.

Honestly, this is a small effort on your behalf.... you wrote the entire thing... just fix that little issue. People like WCS but if it is gonna be a pain to the network (and MORE than just WCS is affected) then it is no better than before we had it...right?

Anyway, I just saw the need to clarify the truth about 'No one even notices' because the complaints are rolling in left and right.

WCS is currently the best chat server on WinMX because it have some great and unique features...
FXS is always bugging with some threads errors, memory errors when I'm trying to close it and the update doesn't work. Sometimes, it's very slow to open or it just don't want to open etc...

Like KM said, maybe it's just a little bug and I think he's right. I'm using it and I don't have any problems. I will wait for his next version

The ip flooding WCS is causing right now has caused me to take my room off the network and has caused the closing of several of my friends rooms because it's just too much for some connections. It is my belief that KM has no intention of fixing this bug and if you continue using his server you are assisting him in the attack on the network. Your nothing but KM's puppets in this attack. I'm sorry KM screwed you people don't you even care that its pushed over 100 rooms off the network? KM how do you sleep at night?

Then stop using it. I believe it's probably what he wants anyway but won't tell you. Tell your friends this same advice. If it's too much try something please because as you can see KM obviously doesn't care. As for where to see your searches posted I believe it is www.mxstuff.org/traffic.php. If that doesn't convince you he doesn't care I do not know what will.

I apologise for that. Misunderstood what you were getting at. But my advice stays the same. Until he fixes it I would recommend you ask all of your friends to please stop using it and pass the word to their friends.

I just wanna see more pictures and prof of the flooding if that is avalible pictures screen shots anything, is the network really getting hit hard and how does this all affect everyone in the community

Can I direct anyone looking for definitive proof of the damage being caused to the network to use the Nushi traffic sniffers that are available, this shot shows a primary mx client clearly trying to contact the non existent 1.x.x.x IP's that KM is injecting into the network with his WCS.

Perhaps he will tell us how tying up all the primaries with junk traffic is not a problem for us all ?
