Hi ,
do not use the iblocklist site , we wrote to iblocklist owner warning him to not post the ipfilterX list over there ,
so go to emulefuture.de for grabbing the latest ipfilterX update .

Yes i see that Iblocklist has been removed from the Nexus page who provide ipfilterX anymore info why ?  so now it seems you can only update the ipfilterX list manualy from the other sites which is a shame as using it with peergurdian it was handy having a url for it to auto update from.

As far as I know you can add the link of emulefuture.de for autoupdating the filter ,
http://ip-filter.emulefuture.de/ .

I-blocklist links also lists that block all the providers of a whole country .
Internet isn't born to be banned in some country rather than another ,
no one should support similar behaviors . That 's our opinion .

I agree thats why i started using Ipfilterx as the opinions of the Nexus23 group are what apealed to me regarding what to block etc. It seems the url you posted though does not work in peergurdian so the only way of updating your peergurdian list is by manualy adding the list from one of the sites mentioned on the Nexus23.org  site

A link to the edonkey network ip bloklist for use in peerguardian would be

http://ip-filter.emulefuture.de/download.php?file=ipfilter.p2p

You should be aware however this IP-list is created for use in emule and emule-mods and does most likely not cover the entire range WinMx would need.

It is the same with all IP-lists, at least what I see of it, many of the IP in the list will never attempt to contact you, on the other hand, the listbuilders might miss IP pounding your ports like crazy. It is just a gamble who is in your range to bug you. So to be on the "safe" side you can start with a list that pretends to hold most IP that may or may not do you harm.

Ideally you would have an IP-blocker that could analyse the traffic on packet contents and block whenever it is suspicious, just like the community patch blocks fake files.

This said, no list then when it contains 0.0.0.0-255.255.255.255 covers all. And as you will understand, such a list is unusable though it will be very safe.

Completely false .
WinMx blocklist is added , and as said in the summary of IpfilterX page it DOES NOT COVER ONLY
ed2k network , at least not anymore since 2 years or so .

FYI.

The link Spartan provided as a better link happens to be the same as the working link in my post with the covering warning.
Spartans statement WinMx blocklist is included may be or may not be true, at least it is not as actual asa the WinMx blocklist as the emule blocklist is updated in a far lower frequency as the WinMx blocklist.
The current emule list is dated august 6 2009

So http://ip-filter.emulefuture.de/download.php?file=ipfilter.p2p to add to PeerGuardian as blocked

or http://ip-filter.emulefuture.de/download.php?file=ipfilter.p2p.zip if you want a zipped version of the file.

If you use just winmx  with the community patch then the winmx built in bloclist will probably protect you from most baddies, but surely if using other networks like torrents then your going to need further protection and as most people agree the blocklists from bluetack block most of the internet so of little use. After reading the Nexus23   info on their IpfilterX list it seems that could be used with peergurdian and offer some protection on other networks or am i wrong in this thought ?

It is in my opinion, and I mentioned this before, whatever standard blocklist you use, most likely you are blocking too much on one side and too little on the other.

Every application has its own "bad guys" trying to disturb your traffic. The blocklist builders are doing their best to protect you as good as possible, bluetack might be overdoing by blocking entire ranges when only one IP in that range is doing bad things. I wont be surprised when they would block their own IP whenever that would fall in such a range. :)

Well if you've seen my screener in the host section then you can understand why I'm now using peer guardian. I use the WMW blocklist with it. They seem to do a good job and keeping it updated with the latest anti p2p ips. I'ts the only way I can seem to block those.
