I Rarely Visit The Chat Channels, But Being A Passionate MXer
    For Years This Issue Is Of Concern To Me And Should Be To Other
    Users. Recently Various Groups And Warez Sites Have Been Taken
    Down For Harbouring Kiddy Porn Sharers. With The Advent Of
    Increased Vigilance By The  Authorities  To  This  End, We  Have  
    Accrued A Number Of Porn  Chat Channels. Recently, I Browsed
    The Chat Channels And Was Surprised At The Number Of Porn
    Channels.

    I've Read The For And Against Opinions On Win MX World Forum
    And Opinion Seems To Be Divided. My Thoughts On The Matter
    Are As Follows:-

There Are Two Trains Of Thought On This Issue (1) Personal (2) Network

1. On A Personal Basis I Do Not In Any Way Condone This Behaviour
    And It Goes Against  Any Moral Standards That I May Have. Infact,
    Anyone  Who  I  Browse  That  Shares  Porn  Files, I  Will  Instantly,
    Without A Second Thought, Hit Em With The Old "Ignore & Clear"
   
2. On A Network Basis Some Or All Of These People May Or May Not
    Have Been Responsible  For  Helping  To  Rebuild, Or  Indeed
    Keeping The Network Alive & Well As We Know It Today.
   
   Whilst We As A Community Try Not To Discriminate Against People
   Because Of Age, Gender,  Race  Or  Whatever, I  Think That We Have
   To Draw A Line In The Sand Somewhere. I Just Think Back to Not So
   Long Ago, The Decision To Keep MX Alive Was A Decision Based On
   And For The Community And Not Just Personal Opinions. From Daily
   Reading Of All The Forums, I Know The Amount Of Hard Work That
   Certain Individuals ( Too Many To Name ) Have Done To Keep Us Afloat
   In The Face Of Tremendous Odds. I Appreciate "KM's" Concerns That
   Where Do We Stop, Where Do We Draw The Line. I Believe That Any
   Decision That Is Made, Should Be Made In The Interest Of Security For
   The Network, And Not Just On Personal Opinion. We Have To Cover
   Our Rear And No Doubt The Authorities Will Be After Us Under The
   Guise Of A Network Of Kiddy Porn Sharers. For These Reasons I Believe
   That The Chat Rooms Must Be Vetted And Instructed That This Is A
   No Porn Site, And Anyone Sharing These Types Of Files In Their Rooms,
   Will Be Booted. This In Itself Presents Us With Other Associated  
   Problems !!!

   a) Who Should Make That Decision ?
   b) How Will This Decision Be Implemented ?
   c) How Will This Decision Be Enforced ?
   d) Will The WPN Be Sustainable Without These People ?

  I Have No Immediate Answer To These Questions And Simply Offer Up
  My Opinions For Your Perusal.

As a father of 3 baby girls I would give my life for without hesitation I can say I'd love nothing more than to see each kiddie porn shares pc burn to the ground and their genitals scorched in the process. But my problem with that whole idea of removing them from the chats do to nonconformity (not being just what we like) only puts me in mind of the RIAA wanting MX closed down because we ourselves are not what they like.In American you are taught from day one to respect freedom of expression. No matter how much you dislike someones ideas or beliefss. Personally I think they're all sick bastards. But I like peanut butter n salad dressing sandwiches and wouldn't want those taken away from me.

Its not just the freedom of speech aspect either, I agree with Nooky on this.. I would literally kill someone for messing with my daughter.  Yes consider this a preemption of guilt if some bastard does this and dies later..  

However, We have no control over who sets up a chat room on this network.  When we do claim to have that control and take actions against users for setting up chat rooms that are of illegal content then we are saying we are the judge and jury.  So whats next, shall we be forced like Kazza to also police for copyright infringements?

The point is no control is a good thing.. even if its abused by some sick individuals.  Report them if you like.

But I personally am glad you dont control me, I dont control you, this is a decentralized network and thats just the way it is..

I personally wish this thread would die a natural death, because We, Vladds site, Pie team, You, have no control over what they do here, the only way to take any action is to illegally attack them or to report them.

There is an Anti Child Porn room open that you can go and report. Just type in WinMX Anti Child Porn Room and you should be able to find it. I was in there till the host became a crab ass. Now I cant go in there and I am thinking about making my own. I do have the config from when I helped her host.

I am 100% convinced after seeing your work on various other projects such as the game room and christmas room that you are far superior to the average person and designing a room..

And if others out there are really doing this for the good of MX they wont be concerned with things like copying a room for this sort of purpose ... I hope.. :shock:

Do i get pissed when i see them invade my list YES
Do i have a right to shut down rooms i don't like NO!

as someone said in a early post it is a long and slippery slope and i know you say you will not bother anyone else. But if you suceed you will plant the seed in others that it is right.

the best way to shut down the rooms is to report tham as has been stated.
There are lots of topics i see that i don't agree with but as somone once said:

Shut down rooms you don't like? No you don't have the right to do that.

Shut down rooms that are illegal, as in child porn. Yeah, you should do that. People are already getting popped like crazy for it. They are worrying about stuff like that big time now. Specially if the host of the room and users are in places such as the US. We don't need rooms like this on WinMX, will only give it a bad name. One room on it has already been busted. Made news...so maybe if we help rid out all those sick freaks from WinMX it will be better off. Child porn and animal porn rooms should all be shut down if they are illegal. Only way to know, is report them. They'll watch them, if they're doing anything wrong. They'll bust them. People on winmx aren't getting busted for downloading or uploading. But they are on child porn. Besides, more rooms like that are busted. More news about it spread everywhere. I've already noticed here lately. Many people from back before the crash have been coming back. Will be a good while for it to be like it use to be without major news. That child porn room that got busted was on many major news sites, CNN, ect. More news for winmx, more popularity back, the better we are off.

So I'm for the people that want to bust those rooms. Though, faces of death rooms. Nothing illegal about those. Hell, you can go out and buy the tapes anywhere now. Not something you'd bust. Child porn rooms would be easy to bust. So good luck guys.

Look, I hate thise sick b**tards as much as anyone. I am a father myself.
But is it right to appoint ourselves as police? No.
That's why there ARE police.
So, instead of us creating a bigger mess by handling things wrong, we should hand over any info to the ones who DO HAVE the authority to catch those jerks.
This way, you don't get into trouble when someone's ISP presses charges on you for illegal DoS attacks, and you don't do something stupid like hammering the server of a government agency who has a room set up as a trap for them. (You'd be in some sh*t then, huh?!)

So, again, handle it the right way. Don't scare them away where they go hide, and keep hurting children. If you really care about the kids, then turn them in to the ones who will go catch them and lock them away from kids.

THAT is the best help you can be. If you really want to help, then help. If you just wanna play NIMBY (Not In My BackYard) and send them away to do more harm, then by all means, start doing something dumb like attacking rooms. When you scare one away, and in a few years they end up hurting your kid, then you can pat yourself on the back and say "Wow, I did a good job!"
(If you can say that while trying not to cry.)

Or you can turn in their info and see them on the news as a striped-suit-wearing ass, like they should be. Then they won't have the chance to hurt children. They'll be too busy trying to keep their anal virginity.
