New Program! Patch your Host File With a click of a button!
« on: September 23, 2005, 11:37:22 pm »
I have put together a program to patch your host file with a click of a button. You simply open it click the button that has your os and it and boom! All fixed!  You still will probably have to restart winmx to get it to connect! IF you have any other problems post here!

It won't allow me to choose the right operating system... The only one that works is me/98, and it doesn't work.

I have win xp home, and it wouldn't allow me to use the xp button - "Not able to write to file, maybe you pressed wrong button?"

Then tried the win 2000, same message.  Win 98, patched successfully???

Still no connection.

Certainly it has been shown that the moderators and administrators here at WinMx world have shown us uninformed users (well me anyway) an extraordinary amount of patience and kindness as we all try to reconnect to our happy place.  A heart-felt Thank You.

However (you knew this was coming) some questions: I successfully downloaded and ran the "one-click" patch, rebooted my computer (XP) and restarted WinMx.  Is there an average amount of time we can expect before WinMx connects?  Some posters here seem to connect right away, while others seem to take much longer.  I've been waiting for about an hour now (still in the yellow).

Now, I run WinMx on a secondary connection, am on a LAN and am firewalled.  I take into account that it is about 1 pm on a Saturday where I am, and that the servers may be experiencing heavy weekend traffic and are bogged down, or that the servers may be off-line.  Should I just leave it alone and let WinMx do it's thing in it's own time?

Any advice would be most welcome.

thanks again for all the hard work you've collectively put in to keep our community intact.

Viva WinMx!

Update...

After 3 hours, my computer screen "blipped,"  I checked WinMX, and HOT DAMN!  Back up and running!  So that's how long it took me to connect.

Anyone still waiting for the signal - HANG ON!  It just takes it's own time.

Man, gotta go find me some stuff!

VIVA WINMX!
