I don't have the complete solution but it has something to do with windows defender!  I fooled around with the software part and now it suddenly works!

ok so here is the deal you lazy arse.

ive been on secondary for 3 hrs now. listed 1110 channels
havent been disconnected.

same thing with the primary.

config:

Windows Vista Business 32bit(original)

AMD Athlon 64 2800+@3800+
1GB RAM
80 GB HDD
well it didn't work for me. it won't download any songs and then it keeps reconnecting!!!!!!!! bummer..........i like my new computer but for all the headaches dealing with the new vista i would have rather had windows xp

So far so good.

I am having a problem getting my TCP port to open. I am running win Vista prem and I have opened the ports on both my router (linksys WRT54G) and win firewall. I run the test and no matter what I do I can't get the TCP to open. The UDP works fine on the tester. I can search and querry for files. I can connect to people and download but haven't tested how long the connections stay. It worked fine before I upgraded to Win V. Any help would be great.

Thanks
Brent

Forgot to add my problem. I can't get people to upload from me. They will querry but it always times out.

Excellent KM, many thanks. So frustrating with WinMX dropping off continually - not now though. Your patch appears to have cured it. Many thanks again.

Please carefully double check your forwarding settings in the linksys, against the guide at portforward.com this sort of thing is actually quite common & usually down to some minor error or typo, a change in local ip (did you set a static one?) or even mistakenly forwarding to the gateway ip rather than the machine's ip, please don't accuse me of insulting your intelligence, i have much experience with setting this sort of thing up & still occasionally misconfigure because of poor typing or proof reading the values i input.....

Just discovered this beta version and loaded it on my Vista Enterprise edition and it worked just fine without the patch.  I didn't mess with any of the settings and it seems okay.
It finds the connection in just a few seconds and downloads just fine.

I had been using the original Winmx on and off for many years until I got vista, thanks for the update.

Hi Guys,

I'm having the same problem as amanda on this thread and I was wondering if anyone has found a fix for it yet.
First of all, on my notebook with Vista Home Premium, WinMx v3.54 beta 4 and Mx Monitor 1.28Eb is working great thanks to the new OLEDLG.DLL.
My Mom's Desktop on the other hand is having amanda's issue with complete files not being renamed. They do show up as Complete in the transfer window but do not get renamed in Explorer, so they stay "_INCOMPLETE_" Another thing I noticed is that when I right click on a file in the transfer window the Open and Play options aren't listed in the context window.
The Desktop has the same basic configuration as the notebook so I'm going crazy trying to figure out what the problem is can someone help.

Thanks,
Ben

have you checked the security settings on your incoming files directory? make sure you have full access - if that still doesn't fix it try right clicking the winmx shortcut and selecting run as administrator when you run it (if that works, then you can right click the shortcut and go to properties and under compatibility there is a tick box to make it always run as administrator)

I had problems with WinMX in Windows Vista Home Basic for a little while.  I uninstalled it and reinstalled it then added the patch on top of it.  Everything seems to be working fine from the secondary connection now.  I do have the same problem that "BenJr" is having with files not being renamed in my Music folder and I can't seem to remove unwanted files from my Music folder from WinMX itself like I could when I had XP.  But since my main thing was being able to download from WinMX again and that problem seems to be solved, these other problems are minor.  :D

I just stumbled across this patch after getting disconnected every few seconds in Vista Home Premium.  Installed patch and have been connected ever since.  Patch appears to work flawlessly.  I'm a long-time WinMX user.

Is anyone still here? I can't even connect to winmx.com!

Anyway, I have Windows Vista Home Premium and I have NO idea how to install this patch!

I would gladly test for you if you can tell me what to do with this dll file!

I WANT MY WINMX!!!

install winmx from www.winmxgroup.com and click on the download button.
Then do this :

1.> Close winmx.

2.> Go to your winmx folder and delete a file called OLEDLG.DLL.

3.> Now download the file on this link:
https://forum.winmxworld.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=4360.0;attach=1400
and put it in the folder in which the winmx.exe file is there

4.> If some connections problems occur, remove the firewall rules of winmx and re add them.

5.> Restart winmx and try connections on primary and secondary.

Cheers :P
Reconnect to winmx with the blocking patch :)

Spread the word now :)
