the win32.dll i believe is what is causing our problems of CRASHING. I understand KM is working on the problem. even the new install1.9 (2.0 canidate) is crashing.

This works for me. Up and running as primary with 5 connections and 12 secondarys. Trying to do my part..

C\windows\system32\drivers\etc and rename your original hosts file if you want to have a back up then unzip this to there..

the 9x solution hasn't had any reports of crashing... should also work on 9x, although it is a "lite" version as it doesn't contain all of the modifications of the full NT version

sure beats using a file that points your MX at a set of fixed peer caches that are mostly offline

Im not so sure i like this.KM if you ever share the server software id like a copy and to be added to your host files. cable 3mb on 24/7 have 3 servers other than the one im on now.

vladd has proven where his priorities lie, he knows that neither he nor sabre not the rest of that whole group of idiots (they are idiots for what they are trying to do) knows even a fraction of what they would need to know to resurrect winmx - their main priority lies in preventing anyone else from saving winmx.

It seems we where right to be concerned

This secret committee have for weeks been using the peer caches run by KM and now Vladd is authorising personal attacks based on what ?

Folks this is a sorry day for us all, show that you will not allow mx to be hijacked and boycott vladds site.

We have not been here as long as he has but there are no ads here and its all done out of love for mx.

This is just plain lunacy and morally wrong, Vladd you have let us all down.

Chuck we have been carrying most of the network since day 1, as you can see in that txt they are having difficulties with the caches they have, this is a stupid action to take.

Km like i said if you care to share the server software ill run a server just for mx you can e maile me if you like @
chuckupson@yahoo.com , i really dont want to be stuck with the likes of them being in control of mx or of my use of mx. I know whell how vladd is and not at all Impressed with him or his team. But ive used mx from day one and would like to use it for what it was made for. and your right no ads but you got jobs you dont need google.

I do plan on releasing my peer cache software, but not yet... I am a perfectionist, it currently works, but i wouldn't say it was in a releasable form, just a usable form

plus of course i know certain people tried making a peer cache but fucked it up so badly they are desperate to get a copy of my peer cache to claim as theirs, so i might just delay making it up to a releasable standard for a while just to spite them... lol (not really, but i think i need to make a better peer cache for release, not the one i have now... which is a mess, works well and provides good responses, but is a mess)

i would be happy to help confused:

There are currently 2 methods of reconnecting your winmx:

1. Pie Patch run by a team of winmx users totalling over a 100 ppl, Vladd and Gemini777 head up this operation. They go under the name of MXpie.

2. KM's .dll solution, written by KM and promoted and supported by Ghostship, MeHere and i presume the rest of the admins and regs on this site (although dont quote me, as i dont know the extent of their team) They go under the name of winmxgroup.

Both patches will re-connect users with ease in the majority of users, both patches have had some issues at one time or another.

If you can see past all the silly flaming, you will find there is an agreement (although a little strained at times) for both options to use the others peer caches.

This strained agreement for now, seems to be as far as the relationship goes, which granted is a shame.

And contrary to some flames you will read about Pie Team members "only allowing" users to reconnect using Pie, u will find, the day before yesterday i talked a regualar in the Vladd44 channel through a reconnection using KM's .dll method. I hope i wasnt mis-guided.

Seems i cant win, if i promote Pie in anyway i get flamed, and if i but a simple balanced post with NO links to either option, i get critized too?

I even posted a recent example of me helping a user reconnect with .dll

I guess i just cant win, you guys here constantly fight for the right to choice, and when i offer it and extend it, im accused of "asking us to mislead people"? wtf, i did no such thing, i merely pointed out the facts of each option for a confused user.

My apologies confused, it would appear im not to mention Pie on this forum. I wish you a swift reconnection with .dll i hope you have seen and noted the response i got for offering you the choice of options.

Hmm, no mention there of another way of connecting or even that you may be damaging your BendMX or RCMS install, in fact very amateur and a team of 100 never spotted this little flaw ?

Helping people back on to winmx is a grand thing to do but to ask them to remove a file because it does not suit your own ideals is not something we practice or condone.

Ghost is well aware as is just about anyone that has visited either of the sites in Question, that each site has their prefered method of re-connection, i really dont see why we cant all accept this.

Dress it up how you like, spin it as offering choice, but its well known and documented you prefer and recommend the .dll solution, so why not just go with that and stop trying to compete with another site who chose to recommend another solution? Do you see all the site admins and owners from Vladds site, bitching and moaning on your forum? Do u see any of us posting the Pie Patch link over and over on your forum? Do you see any of us insulting admins on your forum? Do you see any of us using Silly Avatars to insult the alternative patch?

As we both know weak but workable agreement is in place to share caches, other than that why push it? why not just support your own preference and allow others to do that same, anyone that wants the Pie patch, its not hard to find, nor is the .dll if they choose that.

If choice is what your really about, then allow unconditional choice. I will wait with baited breath to see you practise what you so cleverly preach.
