Wow, Just in time.

We have added a section of tutorials on four tools for wrapping and unwrapping ALBW formats.

The page is here:
Album Wrap Tools

The four tools there are

AlbumWrap Extractor/Wrap
Alba Extractor
Moose Wrapper
Track Wrapper

Have a look and let me know if these help ya...

unwrapping albums
« Reply #4 on: November 13, 2005, 03:43:04 pm »
i have tried all 4 tools for unwrappping albums but i still have some files that refuse to unwrap with any of the tools. All of the albums play ok with windows media player and all are mp3 format but they wont unwrap.
One of the files has ALBW.zip and another has the message ©Sacchi Files® in the properties summary page.

Ive encountered this on occasion too, when all else fails I use mp3DirectCut & chop them into tracks manually.

Ripped music not showing in library to share
« Reply #7 on: November 19, 2005, 01:34:46 pm »
I have ripped a cd of music done by our band and it opens with windows media player but won't show in my library for others to download.I have tried to add type of file but don't have the codes that are in brackets after file name. I think this is why it won't work

Welcome lyle

The easy way to fix ur problem is to place your ripped music of your band into a folder and then right click it and make it into a rar or zip file and then share the rar or zipped file in winmx.

You can name the rar or zipped file to whatever you wish and i am 100% sure it will then share that way.

I hope this helps you out but if you need any other help please feel free to ask.

Found answer to file problem
« Reply #11 on: November 24, 2005, 07:05:21 am »
I found the answer from my 18 year old step son.

The file will read if you put Windows Media Audio ( .wma) in your type of files to read and all the music you rip from cd's by windows media will be read by winmx.

FYI:

There is a reason that WinMX is not designed to share .wma files by default.

Windows Media Player imbeds personal information about the computer that was used to rip the tracks or files.  Its not obvious unless you know how to look for it.  I am no expert but in some of the tools I use I often find this information and for that reason do not download or upload .wma files.  Its just spreading that personal information.

You can convert these tracks to .mp3 but this will not alter the imbeded information, and if I can find it you can bet that the experts can also.

My best advice is to rerip these files if your intention is to share them on any P2P Network.  You can use a free ripping tool, CDex for example is great.  Rerip the tracks you wish to share, and feel safe knowing your not one of the ones that has your info spreading across the P2P networks.

Cdex Free Ripping Tool

If your determined to share .wma files, as the above poster discovered its easy to add this file type to your Shared File Types then refresh your shared folders.

Yes. technically the computer will still label them as .wma format because thats what created them onto your PC.

THe problem with zipping or raring your albums is that, while this makes sense, no one will find it becasue the default is to search for MP3 files only. On Win MX it is anyway.
