WCS 1.8b7
« Reply #140 on: December 04, 2006, 02:22:00 am »
Good News Folks  :P

KM has just announced another beta 1.8 of his long running WCS server  :D

http://www.kingmacro.net/

Quote
I have released another beta of WCS 1.8, this one is b7 if i'm counting correctly.
+ Changed text format to take $NAME$ and $TEXT$ (the old %s %s still works though)
+ Added per-login text formats
+ Added optional login announcement
+ Added minimize to tray for win32 version

The text formats can now be in the form #c5#<#c1#$NAME$#c5#> #c1#$TEXT$
Old text formats with %s will still work as before, the use of $NAME$ and $TEXT$ instead of the %s and %s is mainly because thisgives extra flexibility for those who either want them in a different order, or may not want a name at all (which may be the case with per-user logins and per-login text formats)

To accommodate the per-login text format and the login announcements the Password= entry in the config file needs to have the added options put on it, you can leave these out and it will simply not use them (no text format on the login and it will use the old system of picking from the 10, no announcement and it won't announce it) - The username can be placed in the announcement using %s.

The format is now: Password=Access=Password=Format=Announcement

Example:
Password=*@=YourPassword=#c5#<#c1#$NAME%#c5#> #c1#$TEXT$=%s has logged in!
that would make a password of "YourPassword" with access *@ as before, but also when the user logs in would set their text format to "#c5#<#c1#$NAME$#c5#> #c1#$TEXT$", and announce "<Username> has logged in!" to the channel

I didnt actually think there was anything left to improve on   , Cheers KM  8)

I found a problem with WCS 1.8b7

It seems to display the RAWNAME when I have it set not to. Look at these pics and you will see what I mean.

Update
I have just released b8, this fixes a bug in b7 with per-login text formats, and also adds an extra option to the config file.

Place RCMSCompat=1 in the config file to enable RCMS Compatibility mode.

When enabled it will take some commands in RCMS Format, basically this allows you to prefix a command with #admincmd or #usercmd, it is not meant to try and emulate RCMS commands but merely make it simpler for those used to using #usercmd /kick or whatever to use it. It also adds #adminmessage to work like /opmsg. Just as with RCMS you can place anything before the commands and it will be ignored.

RCMS Compatibility is disabled by default.

not sure how I missed the fact it was showing a raw username, especially as my test config is set to half ID... oh well, fixed now, thank you for pointing that one out.

Time once more for some extra features in the latest update for WCS  :D

http://www.kingmacro.net/

Quote
Changes since b8 are:
+ Added #c0# for "previous colour" (may be used multiple times)
+ Added #c1,2,3# syntax for selected random colours
+ Added /hide command to hide from the user list (h access required)
+ added RestrictColours=0/1 option to the config, this makes it only accept "valid" colour codes
+ Added IPSend Support (for compatible clients to get IP Addresses when logged in)

Explanations:

#c0# will return to a previous colour, for example if you use #c4#Something#c5#Something Else#c0#Something, then the first and last Something will both be colour 4 (as the previous colour is 4). You can use this multiple times (to go back several colours). Most useful for Replace=, but I'm sure you'll find other uses.

#c1,2# will randomly select one of the listed colours, that example will randomly select between colour 1 or 2. #c7,8,56# will randomly select between 7 8 or 56.

RestrictColours=1 in the config will make it block all colour codes between 9 and 52, and above 76 (except 253), this eliminates the mostly blank colour codes.

I,m sure the folks will enjoy the latest features KM, well done for all the hard work you,ve put into this update  8)

Ps: Also still available for Linux users too  :)

Ok... first thing i noticed is... u can STILL only add 10 text formats...

thats "Some" of the reason i switched to FXS

Its harsh as hell when u have loads of people nagging you for there own text format and u can only add 10...
Is this eva going to be increased... its kinda stupid only allowing 10... there might be a reason...
care to enlighten us or should i wait a few months b4 i test wcs again?

* KM looks at this very page where it mentions the per-login text formats

i also noticed a small bug with /hide, a typo on my part... nothing major though as long as you don't have too many users hidden ;-)

(if you are hidden, you don't see the enter when someone unhides... it confused the hell out of me trying to figure out what was going on)

if that's the text format you wanted then yes

a few examples from the winmxworld config file:

Password=*@2=PASSWORD==#c1#%s#c4# has logged in as Quicksilver
uses text format 2 (no custom format there - it's empty), and a login message on the end

Password=*@2=PASSWORD=#c1#«l|#c2#%s#c1#|l»#c1# %s=#c1#%s#c4# has logged in as Lady Ray
she has her own text format (so the 2 in the access is redundant, purely left there so the config can be used on an old WCS still), with a login message on the end

Password=AaCSsITMKBULlNnFfOem@=PASSWORD=#c8#¤l|#c2#[V\//¥\\/V]%s#c8#|l¤#c1# %s=#c1#%s#c4# has logged in as Ice
again his own text format and a login message on the end

...although i will admit it gets a little hard to read once you start using all of the parameters, but it was much easier than trying to do it a different way with text formats separate, the cases where you need more than 10 formats are the ones where a room is using per-login text formats, so it makes sense to stick it on the login itself, even if it is annoyingly hard to read

hmmm... id say it was as simple to have a hugh list and a login that has a number to use that format #

but.. least it supports more than 10 :)

Thanks!

i have been using FXS for over a year,, the reasons for this is that it connects to the WPN through ips to the servers and not to primary channels which chews the bw..  also  when u do a full redirect with a wcs it drops a lot of ppl due to flooding ,, the FXS option is to do an individual exile on each user  as well as the option to do a full redirect,,  i have found less drops with being able to do individual exiles per user,  also the room host or person running the room can stay in the room and not be exiled out,, the FXS server also has the co-host option  which on a full redirect  the co-host is not redirected with the rest of the ppl in the room,,  i have tried on many occasions to run a WCS room and each time  it crashes out on me,, the longest it has lasted was 3 hours.  It would be good if u can modify the WCS so it does not have to connect to already burdoned primaries  and connect to the WPN servers directly.

U only need to look at the host file to know that it connects directly to the servers ,,, open the host file up and u will see for yourself,, this is what i use to connect my FXS to the WPN,, as far as i know  those IPS are not primary connections

Correction they are connected to the hosts which are connected directly to the servers   they are not connected to primaries which use up a lot of BW on the connection the server is on,,  the primaries are already underconsiderable strain due to the amount of secondaries connected to them as well as the flooding that they have to endure,  this has an impact on the rooms which are connected to those primaries  and it also places more strain on the primaries with the amount of connections WCS rooms have on them too,, just would be so nice if KM would connect to the hosts as well instead of the primaries.

Primaries with thw winmxgroup patch have no flooding problems at all
With a decent bandwidth, wcs is just fine. Plus the newer versions have dialup modes as well which help reduce bandwidth consumption. (they then connect to only 3 primaries)

Cheers :P

All the caches do is redirect you to a primary, you aint conencted to the cache primarys as they rotate around, all you do is find a primary threw the caches and then dissapear off threw the network to find a empty secondry slot. Both fxserve and wcs do the same thing and connect to the same amount of primarys and both use the same amount of traffic. If your bothered about BW as i am and your on a dsl connection try running the room set up for dial-up. that only connects to 3 primarys; more is better just incase all three suddenly went offline dropping your room.
