i've never had any problem connecting to winmx,but today it just says 'connecting" when i try to connect with secondary or primary,is winmx down?

I downloaded the modified Hosts file and some sort of executable here as suggested:

I closed WinMX, ran the patch and replaced my Hosts file. After booting I found I can now establish & maintain 3 primaries using WCS and am hosting a small room but I've not been able to make either primary or secondary connection in WinMX for about 5 hours.

I was spinning my wheels...deleted and re-installed, even downloaded another version...nope...
hey, I remember something...quite sometime ago this happened..and a WinMx guru told us it was because we had downloaded x-amount and they cut us off after so many..any truth to that? Is this what's going on now?

Please read the instrunction in the above thread as to how to reconnect,
and winmx does nto impose any download limits..

Try restarting winmx and rebooting windows too.

Yer, for anyone still having connection issues, please make sure you have the latest patch installed:

And if it still isnt connecting then try restarting winmx and your PC. Please be patient as winmx can take some time to connect.

I just wanted to take a minute, before heading for bed, to tell you guys just how much I appreciate you being here to help. I found you the first time Winmx went off line. And came right to you when I couldn't connect this time. I have to admit, it took me until today to get up the courage to do the patch and the hosts, because if something went wrong I wouldn't have a clue what to do! The funny thing is Winmx connected for me right away tonight and I pickedup uploaders immediately - I just couldn't download! So, decided I was going to throw caution to the wind and just do it. And now all is well in my Winmx world!! BTW, I am a 60 yr old female that has been using Winmx since about '96 or '98. I was in serious withdrawl! So thanks once again! If there is anything I can do to be more of a contributing member, please let me know. I do a secondary connection because last time I tried going primary, it shut down my computer! You guys are great.

hi, i don't have a copy of winmx to aply the patches to, i trird the ones from the archives on winmxworld, but something is wrong, i don't get a folder on program files, or icons, i can still open winmx but it still wont connect,, i tried this patch

Ok uninstall winmx and components.

Ok the attachment here is for winmx v3.54 beta 4. This however still needs to have the patch changed and needs to be unzipped before installing.

Try installing it again and changing patch and you should be back on. Please let us know how you go.
