Suddenly can't upload
« on: January 21, 2010, 05:29:24 pm »
Very strange!
Suddenly I can't upload anymore. All uploads timed out.
just several days ago everything works just fine and I made no changes except in browser.

is there an explanation for this?

For how long has this been a problem? Have you rebooted your system since the problem appeared?

Also if your behind a router and have previously forwarded ports, it's possible that your internal ip has changed, and the rule would need updated to the new ip

Providing more details such as operating system, firewall, other protection programs (antivirus, antispyware etc), the winmx patch and version your using, will help resolving this issue more quickly.

this is merely speculation of course, But i feel the need to explain both theories.
A) the lease on her local ip was lost and renewed before the router realized that there was nothing reserving her original IP which subsequently has it's ports forwarded.

B) Antivirus or some firewall allowed the original instance of MX to bind to its ports. Upon restarting the program MX tried to connect to these again. For whatever reason the firewall or AV seen it as something trying to hijack the original instance's port and blocked it until the original instance's reserve on the port was properly eliminated.

usually the minute you remove norton windows firewall kicks in .. have you checked that too? i mean remove any winmx exeptions in there then start winmx and see if it asks you to allow winmx

i think it could be the port forward thing , but i cant turn this on , i dont know the password for the router.

i use secondary connection so i think i dont need port forward , right ?

my kaspersky allows winmx full access

i didnt change anything on winmx , deinstall dosnt work , i dl the latest community file her 3.54 .

if deinstall does n't work maybe you moved or renamed the folder or one of the folders winmx is in?

have you tried removing the allows in kaspersky while winmx is shut down ..then restart and re-allow when you re asked by kaspersky?

i use secondary connection so i think i dont need port forward , right ?

right

All of you, check the windows firewall, even when it's 'off' it still interferes. Turn it on, make sure winmx TCP and UDP are allowed for the ports concerned, then turn it off

Also check C:\Program Files\WinMX\oledlg.ini, see if enableupnp=1 or =0. changing that can help, if ports are forwarded

Have you checked to see what connection type your using? Sometimes when I try primary I get exactly the same thing, but when I switch to secondary everything is fine. Just a though  :)
