Ok pri, draft me something,
I have "HFS ~ HTTP File Server"   folders  "  http://192.168.1.134/v354b4/mainbar/index.html "
a host entry  192.168.1.134 for winmx
so I just kill winmx, rename the dll, start again and it shows in winmx update bar what ever is in index.html
My opinions, are mine !

I,m sure it doesnt say that next to his name Pri  :/

I know this may seem strange to you but a lot of activity goes on here for folks to learn and thus Blades is figuring something out that he may or may not need in the future, whos to tell, surely if we simply aid each other instead of questioning why a more relaxed life is to be had by all and a more informed one.

That is one way of looking at, too GS, however I know many are of the sentiment that an update could result in a loss of the userbase.
So we are here like a bunch of idiots discussing IF an update was to happen,
HOW would that update take place, which methods would be better or worse or even IDEAL and WHY.
Now I am confident that no-one on the other side, would have even considered ANY of this yet.
So what if they say YES, in 24 hrs would they be ready ?
Would winmxworld be ready ?
Would the update with the LEAST impact be released, because it was looked at from every angle by seemingly intelligent people ?
Would winmxworld be looked at as taking this matter very seriously by publicly covering every pro & con that an update would involve ?
Would winmxworld offer support to the mxpie.info team, and offer them a cleverly designed support package or would we say "just do it then" lol
Oh but that's right, we are here like a bunch of idiots trying to cover EVERY angle or maybe just one idiot, ME ?

From our perspective Blades its all plain sailing, I have ascertained the identities of the pie folks capable of looking of the patch src for them and have a neutral expert who already has access to it to ensure they are comfortable with the changes that will need to be made to re-brand the patch for their use, we can transfer a domain already in the cache in a  matter of an hour or two and already have peer caches constructed for their key folks IP's already to fire up upon delivery and support staff to hand to get them up and running.

Our side is ready if they want to switch to a blocking /filtering solution we publicly stand in support of them if they make such a big step and that is a firm promise of the type we gave mxpie.com and they accepted, whats not decided is the small details and of course their decision on whether any of this is something they care about, I do expect a lot of foot dragging as its a big step but it is a step we all need to bite the bullet on and move ahead with ASAP if we are to minimise the security hole that is currently aiding the attackers.

I asked because he asked me to draft him something. I just wanted to know if/where it would be used. And yes I'm aware of what it says under his username (Assistant Site Supervisor) but that's not to say he wasn't involved with other groups, I sure am. If I don't ask I won't know will I. Also I'm not going to whip you up a menubar but I'm sure u can do it yourself, only basic HTML is required.

Progress has been made, parties are talking,
the basic idea that a WinMX with default blocking / flitering vs WinMX with no protection as default has been accepted,

Now, other than that at this time, I not dare say more, when something more happens the news will spread quickly.
Cheers
Andy.

Small situation update folks, on the main front discussions are going very well although as we suspected one self appointed"god-like" member has refused to discuss attacks on winmx, I think you all know the one.

This isnt a deal breaker in any way as we can work with the real team members to get them on board, but we should all definitely dispense with any further pretence that he has any support from the others, he is acting as a rogue operator and thus we will have to introduce network hurdles that impair his activities and stop his monitoring of winmx users.

Its a pity one person places themselves aboove the wishes of the entire userbase but regardless we will work towards securing all areas of the network to deny them to the attackers, known or unknown.

Does this mean that there is no way of stopping winmx users connecting to his caches if he will not see sense, and what if he just shuts his caches down before the pie.info team have sorted a new patch out ?
