"Okay guys. Here's the scoop. If you have used the Winmx patch and are back on there, GET OFF. The RIAA is caching the ISP addresses.

Frontcode saw this coming in advance, and starting moving things about. The short of it is, is they are moving offshore. They are moving to the Cayman Islands, and when they are settled, there web page will be updated with a new version 3.5 of winmx, and will be active again.

Can't really reveal where i got the info, but it is already starting to slowly leak out. If you want to do a search on it, will probably start surfacing in the next couple of days. Just wanted everyone to be safe, and when i heard, and realized that some were starting to head back, realized i should say something.

Be patient, and things should right themselves in a timely fashion. Got a little uneasy when i realized they were back online already today, and thought something was fishy with that. Just want everyone to be safe, and not get hemmed up. "

To those who are bombing out, there was a WinMX Worm going around before the fall. Run different antiviral checks because not every check gets everything. A good one is at http://www.trendmicro.com...panda antivirus also has a free online one and theres a free mcafee online one at pcpitstop.com. Also try AVG antivirus..it's free and good. Don't run them all at once , only run one antivirus at a time to minimize conflicts. If you have one installed, disable it during the online scan.

Okay, I am hearing lots of rumours lots of irritatited ppl, lots of happy ppl, and lots of ppl that need help.

We are a Tiny Small staff here and are trying not only to manage the situations with the peer caches adn what needs to be done there but also on several rooms on MX and FT,...

PLEASE be patient people.. we do have to eat and sleep we are not robots...

I am working on a post now for this thread addressing getting winmx, sorting the host file.. answers about the availablitly of the connections and about silly rumors about the RIAA

Untill I can get that done Pleased bear wif me...

I was freeing up some space anyway for elbow room - may be the actual problem ... I'll finnish that and shut down BulletProof when done and the FRAGGIN Defrag program ... and see what happens.... If I don't post again ... then it's working and just takes a LONG TIME sometimes to connect...

I did exactly what Drac and KM said to do with the file and I perservered and waited online for 1 hour....and it worked I am officially online with winmx.

So yous out there.. just hang on and dont keep turning winmx off & on. Just leave it on and it will work...

Just for a matter of interest, I have been reading these forums, but I beleived Drac & KM and beleive me it works....So all use out there try it...youll be suprised...and yes this is not a hoax message either..

so everybody has to get back in there so that we can share... its pretty empty

The File is not one you need to run its a special file that has no extension , just cut and paste it following the help page there.

Ok, this is about as plain and simple. Just put the file where its sposed to go and run winmx. Also, ive noticed that you MUST HAVE 3.54 beta 4 to get this to work right. Ive tried older versions and it wont connect. However on 2 machines, 3.54 beta 4 does work and conects when used with the hosts file.

This file works with versions 3.31 -3.54.beta4 so its just a matter of the ability to connect

The peer caches are busy and although they are only used for you to get hooked to another puter somewhere the entire network trying to connect at the same time is a strain
